Default Asphalt tire recommendations for 1/10 2.2

Looking for some help on nailing down a good durable 1/10 2.2 buggy tire that runs on asphalt. I have tried a few different tires but have had mixed results. I知 thinking the tires I知 using Jconcepts / Proline are too soft of compounds and I知 wearing my tires out pretty darn fast like 3-5 battery packs. Can someone recommend a tire or hub charge so I can get some decent tires and run times. Thanks

I would think any slick tyre would be good, failing that Proline Holeshots M2 compound.

Slicks should be your best bet. Buggy tires have such a thin tread pattern that no matter what, you値l end up with a slick in no time. I壇 recommend trying to tune with tire sauce.

2 votes for slicks I wondered about them but never bought a set based on I was making slicks out of the tires I was using. Might try the tire sauce route see if that helps.

The thing about offroad tires is if you are running them onroad, run them till they disintegrate lol. I used to run Proline Calibers on abrasive concrete, brick and asphalt surfaces like a mad man, and although you could see they were wearing, I never really managed to completely wear out the tread pattern... Even then, they'd become a slick and you could still run them until they went "off".
Various tyres that come with RTR cars also tend to be made with a hard compound for wear resistance, you could try those....

We run 4wd buggy on pavement and have been chewing through tires also. I've been considering ProLine Prime, Inversion, or Dirt Hawg tires. From Jconcepts, I'm thinking of either Smoothies or Rippits. I'm unsure what direction to take. For now I've got a set of Traxxas Anaconda tires mounted on a Javelin I'm going to try out this weekend if I can figure out what's wrong with the ESC. Lol

I have burned through the Primes, Inversions, Bar Codes and 2 others I can’t remember their names right now. On a couple it only took me 5-6 battery packs to wear the tread almost completely off. As suggested above I’m going to try some slicks plus a set of Hoosier oval track tires see how they hold up.

I’m in same boat. Kyosho rb6.6. I’d looked at the Primes, saw some clay slicks from Raw Speed. But have stayed with the stock worn to slicks. They still work on some pavement, but some is almost like ice.

Huh, didn't think about the Hoosier tires. Good call. Froe s of mine is having great luck with the Dirt Hawg tires. Could also try the Anacondas from Traxxas. They come in a 2.2 size, unfortunately the fronts are meant for a 2wd application. Doesn't mean they won't work.

Saw those dirt hawgs really liked them might try a set. So far I致e just been sticking with my wore down sets. But as Bill said sometimes it痴 like driving on ice.

Look on Ebay for hpi super rs4 tires. Sometimes they come up. They fit buggy rims

We have a concrete track and the owner advised me to get Proline Primes in MC compound.

I've been using Pro-Line Positrons front and rear in MC compounds with very positive results.

I mean, given the fact the surface is bad anyway we can't expect to have perfect grip.

These tires I would give a look:

VENOM 88 Tyre - Rascal/ 1/10th buggy (pr) - Silver # U6720 from Schumacher RC Racing.

schumacher also has tires listed under there "Buggy Onroad" link, but not sure if they are really for 1/10 buggies:

Awesome RC Products from Schumacher R/C Racing.

I'd be curious if there honeycomb tires work well too. I use them for my 4wd buggy on ozite carpet due to tire rules and like them a lot.

Really like those Venom 88 tires have to try to buy a pair. I’ve already burned up a set of pro line positrons there slicks now but they were pretty good while they lasted.
