trying to make this short and sweet as possible.
I have been in RC for approximately 15 years. Crawling about 6 I have currently 3 SCX 10 and a couple other sale rigs and two weeks ago got a max stone 10 off Amazon for 130 something. And after some free modifications like trimming the tires and greasing the axles for my own preference lowering the battery mount. It crawls great ! That being said I have had the Maxstone 10 apart. And I must say the build quality is very nice there is actually less slack in the drive axles then in the scx10 axles. Granted it is nothing like a actual scale Rig because it does not appear scale.
But with a chassis rail kit and a body it could be a trail truck.
The axles work much better with 2.2 so I could not be a 1.9. Due to the bulky nature of the axle housing.
Stock electronics are waterproof and I have tested this thoroughly snow mud water floating upside down flawless all works like new..
So you could start with a Max stone and drive it see if you enjo a crawler.
Then from there with the platform you have you could build a scale trail truck there are builds from other similar type trucks but 99% of parts will interchange with scx10 parts with very minimal customization..
Now granted after doing that build you could have just bought a SCX 10 flat out but by doing it this way you get into the crawling world for about $150 shipped to your door or less..
I apologize for bad grammar hope my two cents helps.
