Default Gmade Sawback thread

Thought it was time to start a threat just for sawbacks......I picked up a couple....done some mods I have read on line.....BUT I recently bought some sheet alum diamond plate from A MAIN and rather than paying 30 bucks for a new custom made transmission carrier, I made one out of the diamond plate. The stock one with the optional alum cover sits WAY to low. Mine sits flush to chassis. This does increase the angle of the drive shafts a couple of degrees. I have the hardened steel ones that say 36 degree angle max....So check out my build......Hopefully we can share some other ideas.....Really cool class one rigs....

here is the bottom of the truck with the diamond tranny mount. Granted not that thick so it always has dents....oh well.....I'll make another....I read and tried out the HR racing airshocks....I bought 100mm to see if I could increase articulation....They seem to still but seller assures me that the nylon inner shaft seals jus need to break in.....So I have been running the stock ones and hand compressing the HR's and they do seem to be breaking in along with initially loosening the bottom caps to take pressure on the shafts that are sticking even when lubed.........also in pic you can see the scx10 side rails that I installed to protect body that was suggestion from MISFITSOLDER on You Tube.....

This is my first scaler/crawler....I am running FX-r with tekin 35t motor and a protek 250s I had.....lil fast servo but I just turned down expo.....Obviously not the fastest truck but seems to have lots of torque....I am gonna have to keep driving and playing with the esc settings. With RC4wd red springs I am getting almost 4 inches of articulation....Not bad for a class 1 with leafs.....I have an army theme sawback I picked up from another member that has an AE2 esc and I am installing a HH35 turn motor with a protek 100t for my 11 year old.....hope to hear from others.....

I haven't done a whole lot to mine yet, just cv's in the front and a cms kit. Running a team brood creep 35t with a micro sidewinder, castle bec and trackstar ts-910 30kg servo. awesome torque on 3s.

Neat, I hadn't seen that before, will give it a go on mine. Was thinking about changing to red rc4wd leafs anyway, so if I mess it up, just gives me an excuse to do it sooner

Banged together some canz class1 legal front and rear bumpers yesterday. Just need to make some rock sliders and it will be ready to go.

No chino mod is when you cut angles on the leaf spring loops to let them bend sideways more. There is some how tos on rccrawler I just googled it. Figured I'd try it out since I was thinkin of red springs as well. I didn't get a chance to try your mod yet I got distracted. Bumpers look awesome nice work! Mine are kinda ghetto made from some slash one I had laying around for some reason

So I tried your mod kona would work awesome if I wanted to run a smaller diameter tire but when I drop the body that low I'm goona have to hack the crap outta it to get the clearance I need. Major bummer. Smaller tires are not an option. Mojave body on sawbacks suck.
