Spent a while at the track tonight, Got the second car all built up and rolling. And rebuilt the diff/replaced the spur on the other car.
I seem to have an issue with a sensor wire, ESC (hobbywing), or motor on the new car. Turbo settings and boost settings have almost no effect on the 13.5, runs (at its current gearing) about as fast as a 17.5 blinky down the straight...
Pulled the sensor cable and it drives the same speed... Anyone know if there is any diagnostic function on the hobbywings like the tekin has to ID if its seeing the sensor wire or motor sensors?
Other than that, the new car handles great.

I spent the entire evening deep in the syndr0me hax0r lab, and after trying 18,000 dip switch combinations, sniffing interfaces, and decoding packets, I'm please to report that all of my newly acquired betabrites are my bitches. The project moves forward...

Mike,
The 8 line signs are called: "BetaBrite Director." They pop up on eBay once and a while. The big sign is an Adaptive (same company that makes BetaBrite) 4200C. Except it's not, which is why I had so much trouble. It's some specialized version they sold to Avaya that sells them as part of their call center phone systems, and they can display various statistics. They've got most of the normal functionality locked out. I almost gave up on it.
I thought you were Mr. LCD TV guy for this sort of thing. Or maybe a projector with $600 bulbs that need replacing twice a year?
I'm currently writing the software that updates the signs with live info from a race. It's using the same info that LiveRC uses to display its races.

Also, thanks for the kind words, I think this will be pretty incredible. Entirely unnecessary I realize, but programming and hacking up old hardware is my other hobby, so this is great fun for me.
What I'll need help with is how to mount them. I don't seem to be good at figuring out that sort of stuff. The signs are about 35lbs each.

clegg - the hobbywing is almost seamless between sensored on sensor less. you most likely have a bad sensor wire. i have one you can have see you at the track.
i might be able to make it over tonight a little later. we will see how the news thing goes.
