I can't wait for this season to start. I'm hoping to make it to most of the races!

I'm thinking of building a GT car for the CTA/GT class. However, being the noob that I am to RC car racing, am not sure what exactly "silver can" means. Does it mean: Tamiya 53689 27t 540-J motor only? Or is the Mabuchi 540SH 6527 27t motor that was OEM in many Tamiya kits allowed, too? The Mabuchi motor is $4, the shiny Tamiya 540J motor is $20.
The internets tells me they are similar in performance, but I have no idea.

The 540-J motor is the one to use.

The mabuchi is not as strong of a performer.

Thanks!
Is the Tamiya 53689 27T 540J the only legal motor in GT?

I like the red dot mabuchi's.

With that said, you'll need several. Not that they will always cook, but sometimes a brush wears down really fast and you notice a huge drop in power. Me and a few others pooled our resources. And had a wide range of silvercans to go through. I got silly one time and cooked 4 motors in one weekend. Apparently these motors don't like being geared the same as a 17.5 brushless. LoL.

I thought Doctor Mertes only made Red Dots from Johnson motors.

2 months until we are back racing. Saskatoon has most of the details covered and maybe a few surprises in store. Sept 25-27 is coming fast, we look forward to seeing everyone to kick off the 25th WCICS season, it will be an awesome start to the series!
Early reports show racers from Victoria to Toronto as well as our friends from the south in the US, don't miss it!
See you all on the track soon....

Default D4 1S "Certified"

So, I am looking at new motors for the upcoming season, and as everyone seems to know the D4 1S is the current "hot motor", and the certified version seem to be the best for performance. With that being said they do not fit with in the roar motor rules. Roar Rules Version 13.0, Page 46, Section 8.5.2.2 it clearly states the maximum price for a stock motor is 149.00. and the price of a D4 1S Certified is 149.99. Now I know its only 0.99 over but thats like saying my 12th scale's ride height is 2.9, slightly out of the rules, But illegal none the less. So my question is; are they legal for the WCICS series? if i am going to spend 200+ dollars Canadian each i want to know it is legal and that I am not going to be stepping on people toes.

Korgee will have to weight in. But in my opinion it would be illegal to run a certified motor.

I can almost buy two touring cars for the price of that motor.

Boy that is a tough one. and thanks for being honest BTW and asking the question. WCICS does follow ROAR motor rules unless something is unclear in which we can jump to the BRCA rule set. either way ROAR does trump BRCA when things are spelled out and current. I would have to say "no" right now based on the current ROAR rule, But this brings up an interesting point for discussion because if anyone is buying a motor + an optional rotor they would be over that price anyway's.

Honestly I would send a message to Trinity and point this out. It could be a typo they missed.

BTW- 12th scale spec tires.

I have received word that some manufatures will be offering a two compounds of 12th scale spec.

1) "Purple" Stripe
2) "Red" stripe.

For All WCICS races you can ONLY run the "Purple Stripe Tires"

This new red stripe tire will not be legal for any WCICS races.
FYI it is a softer tire that was designed for clubs that run no traction compound.

Thanks Korgae, on both accounts. Good to have the info on the spec tires early before the season arrives.

And I see Great Hobbies www.GreatHobbies.com has them in stock; and I would guess ATD Hobbies www.ATDHobbies.com has or will be getting them soon. Support your WCICS sponsor LHS's!

2232 Rear
