Default Shock oil Weight etc

Hey all, just curious to know what everyone is using in their Mini's for Shock oil weight?

I need to do a clean up on them and was going to refill...

Also there is a lot of reference to the number of holes in the plastic plate inside...

Any help would be great

Mike

Tough to say unless you specify M03, 05 or 06.

Mini Bible website is http://www.rc-mini.net

There's a can o' worms for ya. Suspension setup is very personalized. I'm running 20wt with short hard springs all around and some run 55wt with soft springs. I've been trying to figure out the fast guys setups, but they vary drastically.

A good, basic starting point it 35wt oil, 3 hole pistons, with an o-ring or two under the piston to bring total (complete, assembled, end to end) length to around 55mm. For springs, the general rule is hard/soft (front/rear). Start with blue at the front and red at the back.

Here's the M05 specific page. Keep in mind these guys run 13T motors on hot asphalt, so the details will vary.

Driving has a lot more to do with things than setup when it comes to Mini's.

Sure, it has to be setup within reason and can't be WAY out of whack, but as long as it's reasonable and has some shock dampening, negative camber, stiff diff action, and some good tires then it's good enough to win if you drive it right.

Just my observation....because like you said the setups are completely different from person to person. (Except tires)

Mini is definitely a driving class, which is what makes it so fun.

Agree about the mini shocks .... Everyone seems to have their own idea what works best . For what it's worth my m05 is 30wt oil , 3 hole pistons and blue springs in the back , red in the front .

Which springs you use seems to depend on what diff you have. I used to run blue in the front and red in the back when I ran a ball diff, but since I've installed the spool in the front of my M03, I have red in the front and yellow in the back. That is mostly set-up for Carcar's bumpy track, so for a smooth track like KARZ I might go one step harder front and back - yellow in front and blue in the back. Oil weight is somewhere around 30, not even sure what pistons I have.

Got bored, built a new third hand tool. Total cost 5 bucks! (Okay, maybe $6)

Scrap lumber, 1 T-nut, 1 $5 tripod, 2 old alligator clips.
