Once upon a time, in the not so distant past there was this magical place that drew the hearty and thick skinned out on a cold a blistery night. Carcar was the place and touring car was the game. On this last race day of 2017, the racers came in two by two ready with dreams of victory in their eyes. A cold wintery night was upon us, but the action was HOT!!!! Before we get to the results we must welcome Scott out for the first time this year, nice to see him out having a blast on the rug.

Touring Stock B main:

We had a full field of some fast and some new racers, what a great mix. BQ was this new guy that we haven’t seen in years. Some say his finger only points towards him, and his glasses are illegal in 3 provinces and one territory, all we know is he is Thriller Miller. Followed by King Kwong, Who Can, Flash Gordon, Funky Bunch and Wheelz. On the tone we had Thriller rocket off like a man possessed, he initially thought his Hulk side was the match for the man from skull island, King Kwong. As this battle was intensifying, Who Can, whom started third, was suffering body tuck after body tuck after body tuck (someone should introduce him to scissors) and was falling out of fashion like a mustache on 70’s porn star. Flash Gordon was proving his slow is fast mumbo jumbo worked (we all know Tommy Speed is correct in Fast is Fast but whatever) and was drive clean consistent lines. He overhauled Who Can like and endangered species heading to the zoo. Funky Bunch and Wheelz were just feeling the Good Vibrations and were cruising around gaining valuable experience. We even think we saw Funky Bunch break out into a full-blown Marky Mark routine. Wheelz was getting his bearings all evening and improving is lap times every lap, keep up the hard work. Back up front, Thriller got tangled up in traffic and his green friend was slowly appearing. We can only assume that, his invisible black car, was so stealthy that no one saw him coming. Thriller was on the receiving end of a kick in the butt with a frozen boot. King Kwong pounced and snickered pewnie hulk. This battle raged to the final lap when Thriller finally let the Hulk out and ambushed King Kwong for the win. Flash Gordon brought his ride home in third followed by Who Can, whom after his usual struggles came home in fourth. We can only imagine what Who Can could do if he had an aluminum chassis. Funky Bunch did his best to play Gansta and rode the wild side home in fifth. Wheelz rounded out the field but appeared to have a blast, we will see him challenging for races wins soon.

Results: Ken "Thriller Miller", John "King Kwong", "Flash" Gordon, "Who Can" Buchan, Mark "Funky Bunch", and Scott "Wheelz".

Touring Stock A main:

After a steller B main we had the fast guys and Cal. The line up looked epic with Mad Scientist up front, Cheese, Mr. DNF, Mini King, Matador, and Fat Stacks. The cheese got a whiff of his own Limburger and pulled off before the start to obtain some more cheddar. On the tone we had Scientist and Mr. DNF get away clean. The Matador mistook the pink car of the Mini King as red and challenged right on the start and got around. The Matador, after tens of thousands of laps, weeks of smack talk he was riding high, thinking he was the greatest thing since sliced bread and was showing his speed. The Mini King cranked out the fastest lap of the heat and quickly dispatched the Matador like he was running with the bulls. Up next was Fat Stacks Fabio who thought the Matador needed to understand he was playing in the big leagues. The two were pushing hard, after the Mini King went off track for some sight seeing, and they went by. This set up and epic battle. Matador was playing O’Le with Fat stacks. While both were playing with each others’ horns, the Mini King was catching up and closing fast. The Matador, in what can only be described as a viscous grotesque attack on poor old Fat Stacks, showed Fat Stacks what his bumper was made of and bounced him off the track. While they waited, like a true Canadian Standoff, Mini King swooped in and took third. Back at the front Mr. DNF was closing on the Scientist, when the Scientist made an unforced error and required marshalling. The marshal decided that Scientist’s theory on track dynamics was flawed and put him down in front of the Mini King, who had no where to go, and tripped over the defenceless Scientist. Mr. DNF snickered and took the win on the very last lap. Meanwhile several time zones behind the Matador finally conceded that no one, and we mean no one, has the resources to compete with Team Fat Stacks and settled for sixth allowing Fabio to take fifth.

Results:
Cal "Mr. DNF", Dwayne "Mad Scientist", Walter "Mini King", Ivan "Fat Stacks Fabio", and James "Matador".

Touring Mod A main:

These are the fast guys and Cal. A very solid field of Mod touring graced the Carcar rug. Up front we had the Professor, Speed, Fat Stacks Fabio, Cheese, The Arrow, Maverick, Mr. DNF, King Kwong, and Hobby shop. Before the action even started, the Arrow suffered technical problems and was out. On the tone the cars boosted away with a clean start considering such a large field of wicked cars. Mr. DNF was looking for good things after yard saling his car in qualifying, but alas misery row struck him, and he was out. The Professor made an uncharacteristic error allowing Speed and Fat Stacks Fabio through. Fat Stack’s bluetooth data logging system was broadcasting back to his corporate office and they were making changes on the fly, but this wasn’t enough to close on Speed’s rocket ship. Speed was driving like a man possessed he was seeing move that know one sees, almost like a sixth sense was at work. Hobby shop started last but was moving faster than a Walmart shopper on Boxing day. He had King Kwong and Maverick in his sites. King Kwong was no match for what the Hobby Shop was offering. Maverick was calling Goose for help but like the Iceman Hobby shop was through. King Kwong not liking to lose closed on Maverick and had his guns training on him, but alas Maverick kick in the afterburner and was gone coming home a solid sixth and seventh respectively. The Cheese was as slippery as snot on a chicken’s lip and circulating quickly, but had nothing for the hard charging Professor and Hobby Shop. The Professor caught up to Fabio, but was in no mood discuss hair treatment and styling techniques and give him a little bump and run. That is where the Professors charge would end, he would need to work on next weeks lecture to catch the star pupil Speed. Cheese once again pulled out the slices and came together with Fabio, both ended up under the table, with Fabio missing a wheel. We already know the team, back at the Drumheller plant, had a CAD design of a new hub in testing for next week. Cheese was stuck in the brine and allowed Hobby Shop’s sale to continue into third position. The cheese brought home fourth and Fabio was able to pay Maverick and King Kwong off to remain fifth.

Results: Tommy “Speed”, Jim “Professor”, Erwin “Hobby Shop”, Sammy “Cheese”, Ivan “Fat Stacks Fabio”, Benny “Maverick”, John “King Kwong”, and Cal “Mr. DNF”.

Another great night of racing has come and gone. Thanks to all that made the trek on a cold snowy night. Nice to see Scott out and having a great time. Remember to Check out Gordon’s Youtube Videos. Happy New Year to all.

The 2018 season started on Friday night when the doors opened for racing and the speed demons walked through in droves!

The CarCar president Kerry had spent some time in the states over the holidays following his hero Donald Trump's every move. Some say the highest form of flattery is impersonation and Kerry was doing just that. Wearing a suit, and sporting a tan that made him a shade of orange just light of a walking harley davidson tribute he would have made the real Donald Trump tweet "He's a great man. A very great man. He's my friend"

Touring Stock B main: (By Walter)

A strong solid field of racers were chomping at the bit to get going, with all their New Year’s resolutions in check. Up front we had a very subdued and quiet Mechanic on pole, followed by The Bulb, King Kwong, Funky Bunch, Flash Gordon, New Addiction (who was a no start), and Wheelzzzz. On the tone we were expecting, with the resolutions to drive cleaner and smooth, a clean start. Well the Bulb decided he wanted a challenge and decided to check the durability of the boards, which resulted in a ping pong effect and poor old Bulb was at the back. With all the carnage it allowed Flash Gordon through into second place, we can only assume his slow is fast BS was working. King Kwong and Bulb, after there bad luck, set to catch up to the leaders. The Man, the Myth, the Legend “The Bulb” was on a mission to catch the leaders. He quietly and quickly snuck up on Flash Gordon. The Flash was caught licking the window and The Bulb was through. Funky Bunch was having a harder time recovering from the first corner melee, after a great qualifier. He was settling into a nice rhythm, but thinking about his future Calvin Kline ads he decided that posing on the stand was the best course of action. This fashionista was able to keep his composure and strike a pose in fifth place. Wheelz was almost silent most to the heat, his car was looking awesome, smooth, and fluid. The car was getting faster lap after lap, you could see his sinister smile as he knows his days of futures past is coming. Wheelz brought his car home in sixth. Up front we had the Mechanic way out front and on cruise control, even the Bulb and his Mean Green Machine in the hot pursuit, nothing ratted the Mechanic. The Mean Green Machine puts fear in the most season racer, so we can only assume the Mechanic’s New Years Resolution was a more cerebral approach to racing and brought home his car first followed by The Bulb. Flash Gordon and King Kwong we locked in a tight battle. Normally you would expect King Kwong to eat the Flash and defecate the Gordon, but not today. The Flash was tired of the “Fast is Fast” comments and proved his highly dubious “Slow is Fast” motto to be true coming home a solid third. King Kowng, whom will have to wait until next time to chow down on the Flash, brought home his car in the fourth.

Results: Trevor “The Mechanic”, Tim Bulb, Flash Gordon, John “King Kwong”, Mark “Funky Bunch”, and Scott Wheelz.

Touring Stock A Main

The 2018 A Main started out with a field full of fast drivers and Cal. At the tone it was time for the drivers to prove on the track what their text messages has been telling each other all week.. Who's the fastest of them all.In this competition we had the lineup of Mr DNF, Trump, El Matador, Fat Stacks, Mini King, and One Lap. At the sound of the tone the drivers were off! The first corner was mayhem as the El Matador passed Fat Stacks then waived his Capote for Fat Stacks to charge through. As the Ruptash tuned motor of Fat Stacks lite up El Matdor slip stepped and the two of them danced the tango right into Mini King and off the track. One Lap's precision driving and youthful reflexes had him driving through their tango and watching them fade into the night. In the meantime Mr Dnf was under assault by Trump and his team of lawyers. Trump first tried to steal the lead by claiming Mr Dnf was under weight. Trump then had his lawyers call NBC to turn off the fake news that Mr Dnf was leading the race. Finally when it was rumored Trump hit a wall he called fake news and proceeded to apply a speed tax to Mr DNF until finally he passed him in the in field and tweeted "I'm the fastest. Faster then even professionals RC Drivers. No body has ever been faster then me".

Finishing order

Kerry "Trump", Cal "Mr DNF", Ivan "Fat Stacks", James "El Matador", Walter "Mini King", Blaine "One Lap"

Touring Mod

The tire warmers were removed to find the starting grid qualifying order of Speed, Professor, Hobby Shop, Fat Stacks, Mr DNF and King Kwong. This first lap of this race had The Professor was reviewing his instruction manual on "How to make an inside pass". After the review he went right to work through the infield closing in on Speed and diving left then going high. He tried a few times to make the move stick until finally Speed cracked under pressure and a small mistake let The Professor though. In the mean time Fat Stacks was driving his recently modified chassis and fancy new parts into the back end of Hobby Shop. Hobby Shop tried hard to hold his line, but his tires just would not stop his vehicle fast enough and was bumped out of place. Mr DNF had a car that all winners dream of, it was looking easy to handle and fast out of the corners, it only hand one small problem.. The driver. Tap Tap Tap went the driver on the boards as his great quailifying position slowly eroded. King Kwong was out just practicing fast laps and working on getting his car setup to the new layout. Soon his consistant driving and smooth throttle control had him on the back end of Mr DNF and looking to take his position. Back out in front The Professor miscalcualted a corner and his quest for first was ended in broken parts.

Finishing Order:
"Ivan" Fat Stacks, Tommy "Speed", Erwin "Hobby Shop", John "King Kwong", Cal "Mr DNF", Jim "Professor"
Wildwheeler and kerry like this.

On a cool wintery night another great night of racing was upon us. The Carcar Club was buzzing with smack talking, laughing and excitement. We had a lot of old faces out as well as some new racers. We would like to welcome a couple of new racers to the fun Jordan and Zach.

Touring Stock C Main: (By Blaine)

Friday night was an amazing night at the track where a tap on the boards would drop anybody down a heat. The cleanest and consistent drivers of each heat were sure to take the win. The B starting grid had Slow is Fast, Butterfly, Funky Bunch, Phantom, and Wheels. When the tone dropped some close racing began! Funky Bunch was on Slow is Fast’s back bumper, Butterfly was tagging along with Wheels as they came around the first turns. Funky Bunch was the first to make a mistake as he tapped a board and dropped down to the back of the pack. Butterfly was driving clean and right on the backside of Slow is Fast! Soon he made a pass for the lead, claiming his first laps ever as race leader. Unfortunately, it would not last as Slow is Fast’s new motto “Fast is Fast” took over and he started to run quick laps taking key points from the hours and hours of youtube videos he's been watching. In the back of the pack Funky Bunch was making his way through the traffic cleanly with smooth lines as his car was looking much better than it had earlier in the night. Phatom’s first night out at CarCar was a success and his car looked great! He was enjoying running laps and having a fun time with a very close race against Wheels. Wheels's car was really good and he just made a few small mistakes which caused him to drop from middle-of-the-pack to the bottom where he could never recover.

Finishing order: Slow is Fast “Gordon”, Butterfly “Dave”, Funky Bunch “Mark”, Phantom “Jordan”, Wheels “Scott”

Touring Stock B Main

After watching a great C main, the gladiators in the B main were chomping at the bit to get underway. A field of very fast race cars and drivers were lined up and ready to rock. Up front we had the One Lap Phenomenon, followed by Thriller Miller, Slow (who was non-starter), Fat Stacks Fabio, King Kwong, and Fresh Z. Rumour has it that Fat Stacks paid off Slow, to not start, so he could move up a position, but Fat Stacks would neither confirm or deny this rumour. On the tone the cars rocketed off the line. The One Lap Phenomenon appeared to be in the zone, and was showing the skills that his mouth always says he has but we never see. Thriller, decided on lap one to make his work very hard instantly going from second to fourth with a minor hiccup. This allowed Fat Stacks up to the second, driving steady and clean lines that weren’t “Fast”. As a side note we sure would not want to hear his team debrief conference call later this week as the words will be colourful to say the least. The man from Skull Island, King Kwong, was all over Fat Stacks, the battle was epic. However, they were not paying attention to Thriller who was sneaking up on them. Thriller laughed and did a moon walk as blew by King Kwong. Thriller was on a mission, quickly catching the VERYYYYYYY slow Fat Stacks. He gave Fat Stacks the chrome horn a few times as he toyed with his prey. On the last lap Thriller gave Fat Stacks Fabio a razor burn and finger gesture as he swept past to take second. King Kwong was feeling hungry as well and want to take a bite out of Fat Stacks, but alas he would be denied the opportunity as Fat Stack’s VERY, VERY, VERY wide car would not let him through and they came home third and fourth respectively. Our new racer Fresh Z, with a fantastic qualifier, was putting down fast steady laps (Third fastest lap of the heat). Fresh Z was asked “Have you paid your dues?” He responded, “yes sir the cheque is in the mail”. Fresh Z rolled home in fifth, great result. Up front we had the extremely smug One Lap Phenomenon, laugh and smack talking Fat Stacks as he passed him over and over and over, to bring his car home in first.

Results: Blaine “One Lap”, Ken “Thriller Miller”, Ivan “Fat Stacks Fabio”, John “King Kwong”, Zach “Fresh Z”

Touring Stock A Main: (By Blaine)

The stock A main was made up of drivers who did not make any mistakes during qualifying. Tapping a board would have dropped you from the A to the middle of the B. On the line we had Trump, The Arrow, Mr DNF, El Matador, Mechanic and Mini King. When the tone dropped the race out in front was Trump followed by The Arrow who made a inside move on the first lap to hold lead position. Unfortunately for him it would not last long as Trump quickly called in his team of lawyers to help make sure that The Arrow was was threatened to be kicked out of the race just for passing him. Behind Mr DNF made a pass on The Arrow in the infield when a mistake was made. Mr DNF started praying that he doesn’t pop off anymore parts. Mechanic, El Matador and Minnie King were running bumper to bumper and passing each other in the corners. A mistake was made as lexan touched... Minnie King and El Matador traded lap dances ending in exhaustion and they both retired back to the pits. The mechanic drove through this exciting dance wanting nothing to do with these dancers. In the dying moments of the race the action up front had The Arrow pressuring Trump to see if he could again make a pass for first place. However, he tapped too many boards causing him not only to not be out of contention for Trump, but it would make Mr DNF make a sweet inside pass on the infield and take the second position.

Finishing order: Trump “Kerry”, Mr DNF “Cal”, The Arrow “Bryce”, Mechanic “Trevor”, El Matador “James”, Minnie King “Walter”

Touring Mod A Main:

The Missiles were locked and loaded, target selected all we needed was the tone for launch. All the Fast guys were present, and Cal. The line up was stellar with Speed up front, The Professor, Fat Stacks, The Beard, Maverick, Mr. DNF, and King Kwong. On the tone the cars launched off the line, with tires struggling for traction, boost kicking in, speed building, you could feel the excitement. King Kwong launched so hard that Mr. DNF received a boost from two cars, and was unable to control that immense speed he was carrying into the first corner and suffered massive damaged and was unable to continue. King Kwong ripped a wheel off the car and went home empty handed tonight. Up front The Professor was pressuring Speed and the two came together, Maverick had them in his sights and all three were collected. The Beard was lucky and drove through the carnage and took the lead. Fat stacks was in hot pursuits of the Beard. The Beard laughed as said “I never drive faster than I can see, besides that it’s all in the reflexes”. It must have been all the tire kicker Fat Stacks was sniffing to think he could catch the Beard, as it was not to be. The Beard laughed and drove an amazing race bring the car home in first. Behind the dynamic duo up front, we had The Professor and Speed locked in a battle for the ages. The Professor was in full attack and anyone in front of him was a target that must be destroyed. He was able to bring home the bronze. Speed had a few too many issues that even he couldn’t over come and had to settle for fourth. The Maverick, showed moments of massive speed and skilled all-night closing in on the leaders a few times, but had to eject on several occasions and settle for fifth.

Results: Matt “The Beard”, Ivan “Fat Stacks Fabio”, Jim “The Professor”, Tommy “Speed”, Benny “Maverick”, Cal “Mr. DNF”, John “King Kwong”

Another great night of racing has come to a close, please feel free to join us next week at the same time, same place, same station to do it all over again. Remember racing this Tomorrow.
