Default F1 is alive and well in So. Cal!

Tamiya, CAL Raceway, WCRC, OCRC, Ventura…. most all the tracks in Southern California run an F1 class because they are awesome! After an “all F1” day at BCR, we got to talking about a dedicated thread for us So Cal F1 drivers and here it is!

Why a dedicated thread? Because those of us, who love open wheel direct drive cars, know that the key to making it even more fun is running with a full field. No matter where you run, the more competition the better. If we all gang up on a track on a given day, it will be good for F1, good for the track and good for the soul. So, this thread is for F1 drivers from the LA, OC, Ventura, and San Diego areas to discuss where, when and what flavor F1 to race.

2012 Update: Due to the efforts of a few and the great attitudes of many, this idea that started out in 2009 has grown to something awesome as we enter the third year of F1 racing that we call UF1. To find out more details of what UF1 is, check out the UF1 website.

I'm glad you did this Tim... I would see 2 or 3 F1's at any given track, but if we all gang up and organize ourselves to meet at any given track then we really have something.... So I will start off by saying I know of at least 5 of us going to the Tamiya track this Saturday morning... I will probably go to WCRC after that...

If I know there is a Group of F1 guys going to a track, I will go there...

This is a great thread to keep in touch with each other

I can't make it to Tamiya this Saturday, but I bet it will be well attended with the new surface and all...

So we have two big F1 days on the calendar for this year so far.
TCS NATS, August 29-30 Tamiya track
Ultimate F1, Sept. 27, BCR

It is a great class. Relatively inexpensive, hopups are mostly a waste of time/money. 90% driver skill 10% setup/equipment.

Charles took some pics when we ran at BCR this past Sunday.

Here's some pics that Downtempo's wife shot, he raced with us last Sunday, yep, the white car in the pix is his.

I just posted this message in a bunch of threads, including OCRC Onroad, WCRC, F103..., F104..., BCR and the Tamiya TCS thread.
That should stir up the pot a little bit.
Hope to get some response to this shortly.
This weekend should be kickin!
I say WCRC Saturday nite is on.
Any other takers?

Message I posted reads:

Hey you F N F1 racers, check out this new thread from 240Z!

Gonna get a direct connection to the F1 scene in So Cal by coordinating track times so we can overwhelm chosen tracks on given days!

He calls it an F1 Swarm!
I like it, join in, show up and let's race.
The tracks will love us and you know more will join in!

240z... wanna take care of the "F1" branch of the Showdown? (I offered it to Lightfoot, but he's quite busy. ) PM me if you're interested.

Next Showdown races are:
9/5 - West Coast
9/12 - OCRC
9/20 - Camarillo

there's still time to get points for the F1 Showdown.

Now if you guys do this ( I have no doubt you will make it happen) post some results with names and brand of car on it. Everybody here likes to see their favorite car listed.

The Canadians have a huge F1 series at different locations, www.rcf1.com is just one of them. Other groups are forming out there so let's race!
