Any decision if there's racing tomorrow ?
Went to track this morning, it was a very soft with some wet sections at the bottom of the straight. Westy will do a track inspection at 5-5:30pm. From his report i will make a decision and post you with a Yeah or Neah. Tomorrow's forecast is a worry, and that will be taken into account. Weather has been good today so track should be drying out well.
Fingers crossed, hey.

With last weeks forecast and the weather we had, it will probably be 30 and fine tomorrow

Racing is on
Conditions come attached. If it rains tonight heavily then meet will be cancelled first thing as track is drying out but slowly and really can't handle to much rain.
See you all in the morning.......fingerd crossed.

I went up to the track this evening and observed the following...
The track is spongy, indicating the clay is water-logged. Today's sun has skinned-off most of the surface and we can race on it PROVIDED we don't get any significant rain tonight or tomorrow morning.
If it does rain, the clay will not absorb the additional water and the track surface will immediately turn greasy again.
There are bog holes at turn 3, under the trees at the back, and entering into the main straight. A friendly motocross biker has also decided to leave his calling-card by demonstrating his skill on a wet track for a couple of laps. These can all be repaired with a bit of pre-race track prep, as long as we get a few volunteers out there first thing to make it happen.
Marshalls will need to tread lightly, at least during the morning. Sudden changes in direction may put your boot through the dry crust, initiating a skid and possibly putting you on your backside. Be careful.
I suggest drivers be mindful that marshals may need to back-off a bit for this reason. Use extra caution if your car is approaching at speed, any marshal already on the track. He may not be able to get out of the way as quickly as you'd like.
The weather forecast is not looking very promising at the moment, but we'll make a go of it if we possibly can.
Phil will post a final go/no-go decision here tomorrow morning.
In the meantime, if you will be coming from a significant distance away, keep an eye on the hourly weather reports for Noarlunga. This will give you a good indication if it's worth making the trip.
Like Phil said... Fingers crossed !

Ended up spending half the day at the track with Foord and Samra, track was good, no wet spots and could have used some water. Oh well next time

Pretty disappointing the meet was called off, track was perfect today, no muddy spots at all, the track was dry as a bone, it really needed a watering...

the call was 50 50 at the time when you mob were sleeping in the wee hours it may have been a bad call! but at the time we called what we were told we also had to take into account marshals safety!
another option was to wait till say 11am and run then and we may have done that! but why as you mob would moan and groan at that so its a
catch 22 situation so lets move on lady's leave it at that
p.s the ppl that had a say in the call want to race so they miss out as well

Want to race next Sunday ?
Phil and I were up at 6am this morning, trying to decide weather we should go ahead with the race day or not.
The information to hand at the time suggested it would likely be a write-off, so we made the judgement call and cancelled.
Hindsight is always 20/20, and this time it showed we made the wrong call, so we're now both a little bit uglier for no good reason.
Things could have just as easily gone the other way and left us all in the car park, lamenting the cats and dogs falling from the sky. (This has happened more times than I care to remember.)
We erred on the side of caution this time, so those who have to travel long distances didn't end up with a wasted trip.
For future line-balls, if anyone has a crystal ball that works better than BOM's, we would be glad to make use of it.

Provided we can secure a Race Director, consideration is being given toward the holding of a make-up meet next Sunday, weather permitting of course.
As this would be a championship round, it is contingent on how many club members would be willing to race on an off-weekend. If the majority of potential attendees are non-members, then we would have to scrap the points.
So, here is your chance to have your say. Committee eyes are watching & counting the replies...
