With the end of finacial year just around the corner I was thinking we should have the postponed annual club get together. Due to the competitive nature of the club members I was thinking bowling Saturday afternoon/night before the next club meeting.

Hi guys. As a past member of knox offroad, (1991-1996), i have been considering a return to the rc hobby world.
Just want to know how the Short Course truck racing scene is in Victoria and Australia?
Are there different divisions? If so, what?
This style of racing appeals to me as i used to race stadium trucks way back then, but im wanting to do something different now.
Cheers.

Short course racing at knox is starting to grow. Our last meet that I attended we had 10 short course trucks turn up, 7 traxxas slashs, 2 losi strikes and one team associated sc10.
In NSW the ryde off road club has regular large turnouts.
There is also a group from bendigo area that have a growing following.
At Knox we are following the rules that ROAR have sanctioned, but not officially sanctioned in Aus yet. any 2wd SCT with 27T brushed or 17.5 brushless is ok as long as wheels are fully covered by body when viewed from above and uses specific SCT tyres. mods to chassis limited to reliabilty upgrades only, ie aluminium shock caps on slash ok as they have been known to pop off.
Ryde and Bendigo I believe run 13.5 brushless systems, but dont hold me to that
These rules keep it fair for stock out of the box cars to compete.
As the class hopefully grows, we hope to include an "outlaw" class which is 4wd cars and any 2wd car that doesn't fit into previous rules.
But depending on numbers they may have to be put in to same race but in classes.
Hope this helps.

I would have guessed that keeping some sort of paridy in the class is paramount. Keeping it controlled and fair for everyone until the class grows is probably the only way to allow newcomers, (and old timers like me), to get back into competitve racing and to keep the racing nice and close.
Cheers.

ROAR in the States have a section in their rule book that give all measurements and weights etc. for SCT RACING. I understood most of our local rules from all classes are dirived from ROAR rules. Is that correct?
#8188
I wouldn't be surprised if the SCT rules reflect the ROAR rules currently used.
