I'm running crystals and have multiple sets so that should be cool.

Still not sure: so how many races will I get to run in for the day?
At club meets, you will get 6 races in the day (3 qualifiers, 3 finals). The class depends on the motor you have installed. Do you know which motor is in the truck?

Make sure you speak to someone at the club re: marshalling so you are aware what to do (and what not to do!!).

Great to see new faces joining the sport all the time.

Hi dildil.

Welcome to the forum. I think I may have met you and your mates, I asked for a drive of your evader when you thought it was not handling properly.

Hope you managed to get the shocks fixed o.k.

Just to let you know, your motor is 19t, but will run appropriately in Stock, I think you'l actually find the "photon speed" will even be a little slow! (don't be discouraged. Less power = smoother driving. This can win races!). Just try to get your hands on that pinion we discussed.

As for the optima........COOL! I won't be there for a few weeks due to work commitments, but if your mate lets me know when he's looking to race his, I'll bring mine and give it a run.

Good luck for your first race meet, you'll love it!!

one more thing..... speak to a guy named Dave Gunn. He runs Evaders, and will be able to help you.

Sorry for volunteering you, Dave

ant0276 yeh that was the single most useful bit of info I've got so far! I rebuilt the shocks, they had NO oil in them I replaced the O rings but the shafts are damaged, so I'll get some of those nitride coated ones I think they are called. Put some 25W oil in them, I couldn't remember what weight you told me to get.

But it runs WAY better now, and I just got a LiPo battery for it so it's going better than I've ever seen it go. (almost make the three jumps)

My photon speed motor died, but I got a replacement from the US. It says 20turn on it, but yeh, I'm not overwhelmed by it's power. I've got an EZ-RUN brushless and esc coming in the mail. It's 9 turn and I've had mixed reactions about that from people I've talked to at the track.

My cousin who occasional comes to the track with me and runs the tamiya buggy has the same kit in his. I'm just worried about it tearing up bits in the evader but I'd thought I'd try it and see what happens.

I got the pinion gear too. I was running a 20 to there's a 22 in it now. It's hard to tell how much difference it made as I changed lots at once on the setup.

Anyway, thanks for those tips!

Glad the info helped.

9T sounds pretty wild for racing, but as long as you keep the maintenance up (diffs&drivetrain) the evader will handle it. If you want my opinion (a bit late for now) about a good place to start it is 17.5T sensored, as this is the "Stock" class. Easier on trucks, so a lot less hassle in maintenance and cash outlay.

If you ask around someone may have a "27t RB brushed stock" motor they will let go cheap. Strap in 22/88 and it'll be a weapon.

25 all round on the shock oil sounds perfect. With a lip, even 20 wt might be o.k.

This is the kit I'm getting. tinyurl.com/q9arsc

I could always put it in my tt01 build and still get a 17.5T for the evader.

Where would be a good place to get a 17.5T and esc? Something entry level and online that preferably takes paypal?

So in the Stock Truck class is everyone running brushless?

The Hobbyman Dandenong is a good place to get an entry level ESC & 17.5.
The guys who work there race at Knox, you could try the Losi exceleron system.
Give them a call on 97945999 after 9.15.

Mick.

There is also RC Garage (www.rcgarage.com) based in Bayswater & where I get most of my stuff or Metro hobbies in boxhill

Also as a side note - the venom esc is the same as the Losi exceleron system - just rebadged for Venom.
