Ok, so 8:1 final drive would be faster in topend speed than 8.5:1 final drive - is this correct? What is typically ideal for 540 and stock 27?

Yes that's right mate, the "Taller" the gear, the closer it is to 1:1, and shorter gears go the other way. I run 9.25 in stock, and 7 in 540, hence going straight down the middle for an 8.

Basically, we just want to get the motors working without overheating.

Looking forward to 540super. Anyone know if the willabong is going to join our newly found class?

My post was for the benefit of Yoshidad.
Knowing what pinion/spur combo makes a ratio may lead to better purchasing decisions.

Mind you, it pays to check the gearbox ratios for yourself and not rely on prepopulated information as the evader bx entry on their site is incorrect.

Yeeha !!

Only 5 more sleeps till we go a racin' our 540 motors with pretty paint.
To date we have - Ant, timmey, Josh, me, Cain and Will. Don't bother fixing any other car Will, just come and help box Ant in. Do we have any more takers for the 'Sport Tuned Race Of The Century'?

Weather permitting, we are haveng a slight clean up on Sat.

The storage area under the drivers stand will be cleaned out and kerbs painted. All are invited to help.

No surface work will be undertaken, so track will be open all day.

Modified should be great, Modified = FAST..... Any other class isn't.

That's the older type, back when they were'nt cheapskates and used to do a surface treatment on the cans. Now they just paint. Same thing, anyhow. I'm running it in my 2WD, as I think more people have 2WD's ready to go. If you must put it in Homobodies, we'll forgive you.
