Selling my AE SCT package if anyone is interested - haven't made a single meet due to family so time to move it on.

Ah ... I've got one of those in my gear diff housing

I used a dremel to get a slot across the screw and unscrewed with a slotted screw driver. Still using that screw too, and I didn't have an equivalent. Its been in and out a few times.

What to borrow the dremel?

haha, to add it to my other three Dremels ?

I don't want to hurt the Carbon its attached to

I think I'll have to hammer in a small flat head screw driver again Might pop by a few serious hardware stores and see what's available. Bunnings was no help but not really their thing. Walked away with some other tools though hehe

LOL. No sign of carbon on my truck!
FYI diff housing did get an unintended mod at the same time! Oops

I'll have a look at work tomorrow to see how small the easy outs I have are.

hey mate last time i just drilled mine out until the head snapped off then removed the part completely from the chassis.. then using a vise or pliers on the remaining 2-3mm of screw i twisted it out..

3mm scres are too small for extractors from my experience..

What he said.

Can you drill a small hole onto the head then hit a alen key into the hole you have drilled? Has worked on a door lock for me before but it is made out of softer steel

Enjoy Gully

Yeah, that's something I was considering. It's a hex screw to begin with, so would have to force a slightly large one in, or attempt a corner to corner with the flat heat. It also has red loctite, which will make it even more annoying ( probably the cause of the original rounding.

Easy Out, that's the thing, if they go that small, thanks Tyrone.

Last time I drilled a countersunk one out it didn't go great, had to replace the part the shaft was stuck in ( could probably do that, but its vintage :-) ).

As a man who hordes tools, I thought there must be a tool for this
Thanks for the ideas guys!

I have used torx bits in the past just tap one in that's slightly bigger, they seem to bite in well.

Red thread lock is the enemy of RC. Purple ftw. And you can heat up the screw with your soldering iron and the thread lock will weaken.

My old man showed me a trick years ago. Think he glued the hex bit to the screw, using loc tight or something similar, then like magic it came undone. Heating the screw is a good idea too. That will weaken the red stuff.

My favourite gear is the blue stuff, tastes horrible though (don't ask that shit gets everywhere if your not carefull)
