Its strange, but for a 21.5 in an F1 my Tekin does feel just as smooth as the hobbywing V3's i use in my touring car and buggy.
I think it is more noticeable on the Tekin when you start to move to higher turn motors and heavier cars how crap they are.
I am also using a Revtech 21.5

I've been using a Tekin in my F1 with 17.5 Tekin motor and its just rubbish to put it simply... I've tried a different motor but it still feels very abrupt when applying power... and nothing really seems to change it

ATM moment my main options are a HW, SP Reventon or a Novak

Mine has a HW V3, and D3.5 21.5 in it at the moment, nice smooth and pretty fast...

I'm running a Tekin RS (nice and small) in blinky mode with a GensAce 21.5 (the "green goblin" hand-out from NSW State Titles two years ago).

No problem with speed or smoothness.

Just to clear up one other thing - with the F1 rule set it says to use either the ROAR approved ESC list or the AARCMCC list. Are these the only 2 lists to be consulted?

I only ask as I've spotted a couple ESC's being touted as a possible F1 ESC but they are, currently, only on the BRCA list.

I would have thought that as the D3.5 17.5 is now illegal then the 21.5 version would also be illegal at major F1 events (most probably ok for club racing)

Hi - The only trinity D3.5 that was removed from the roar motor list was the 17.5. All other D3.5's are still on there.
So I guess the 21.5T D3.5 can be run at any event.
Interestingly apparently sales for the 17.5 went up when it was removed, club racers I guess.?
Cheers.

Well I can't see any D3.5 21.5 on the ROAR list

this could get messy, its still legal for 13.5 and it was never on the 21.5 list
so going by the grandfather rule it should be legal,

You're right heavy... the D3 is there not the 3.5... just goes to show one must read things more carefully ... doesn't make my choice any easier

Yep - I stand corrected, The 21.5t D3.5 must have been removed from the list as well.
Oh well, just as well I got the "Schuur Speed".
Cheers.

D3.5 21.5 was never put on the list. They never applied to have it put on apparently as sales aren't as high for it to be financially worthwhile.

Isn't the Fantom Apex 21.5 a re-badged Trinity D3.5? If so, that would also render it illegal.

Nope. Fantom version of the D3.5 is the Ion V.4. Fantom Apex 21.5 is a Team Epic revtech.
