Default Orion V2 Endbell

Recently managed to score one of these on the 2nd hand market.

A couple of questions.

1. I belive there are three brush spring tensions, soft, medium and hard. What does the motor come with standard (Peak Surikarn 9D). And what should I use.

2. What brishes should I use, and what is there part number?

3. How long will the brushes last?

they come with hard springs and sprint (2-6 run) brushes.

I'm not going to say that you don't because i can't see what is in front of you but if you go to the team orion website and even one of Hara's many interviews, you will find that his edition only comes in singles.

Peak Vantage-Surikan Edition-list part numbers for 8x1,9x1,9x2,10x1,10x2,11x1,11x2,12x1,12x2,13x1,13x 2,14x2.

they come with hard springs and sprint (2-6 run) brushes
Std springs and brushes are fine.

#PEK2277. Serrated Sprint Brushes (2-6)
I think you could get 20+ runs out of these brushes as long as you keep the com fresh. You might only get 2-6 runs out of them if you replace them as soon as the serrations are gone.
#PEK2275. Serrated Enduro Brushes (10-30)
These can be used also but apparently power does drop slightly, not that i noticed though.

all the motors come with a med-hard spring - mod, touring and 'name' versions.

the mod and touring versions come with enduro brushes, all the name motors come with sprint brushes.

origonally all touring versions came with the 4mm arm and all modified versions came with the 5mm arm.

but recently that's changed.

now all motors available in the usa (and the ones being brought into australia are the same) 9 turns and under reguardless of version are the 5mm arm - touring and name lines included.

10 turns and above in the touring and all the name versions use the 4mm arm.

and ofcoarse all the modified winds are still on the 5mm arm.

if you're unsure what you have and would like to know, it's just a quick measurement..

take the armature out of the can and measure the distance between the poles (the gap between the things the wires are wraped around for those looking for the technical terminology ).

5mm arm will have a gap of around 4.2mm.
4mm arm should be ~3.7mm.
anything under that would be the 3.5mm arm i heard came with the skewed comm hara motor, but dont quote me on that as i've never had my hands on one.

as for the winds available..

from peak the spashett winds available are (remembering 9 turn and less is 5mm arm, 10 turn and more is 4mm):
8x1, 8x2, 9x1, 9x2, 10x1, 10x2, 11x1, 11x2, 12x1, 12x2.

surikarn:
8x1, 9x1, 9x2, 10x1, 10x2, 11x1, 11x2, 12x1, 12x2, 13x1, 13x2, 14x1, 14x2.

and from orion the hara winds:
7x1, 8x1, 9x1, 10x1, 11x1, 12x1, 13x1.

oh yeah.. the first motor that'll be coming from the factory not as above will be the rheinard eddition.

happy clickable.

another addition: also i belive the armature used for the spashett eddition is different to all the other versions, in that it has material milled out of the laminations running vertically down the center of each stack.
