1-8th causing damage to tracks
Several members went to St Ives track today to see how it was holding up with the rain.
track okay (so far) BUT 1-8th (drivers ??) cant help themselves. Ranger came to the aid of members and 1-8TH left, with a stream of abusive four letter words. ANY OTHER CLUBS HAVING TROUBLE, COULD THEY PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW THEY ARE HANDLING IT. :flaming: :flaming: :flaming: :flaming: |
Hey oldie.
Well i guess we aren't the only ones!!! Down here in SA there is one offroad track running at present. I have spent heaps of time lately cleaning up after 1/8th wankers. They have all pretty much been told they are not meant to come down here, but every weekend without fail they are down there tearing up everything in site. Sorry i can't help ya get rid of them, we aren't having any luck either! Glenn |

If you are on council property you could try contacting them, best of luck, You really have to push the "safety and noise" issue. |
old racer - apparently when you were repairing your track the other week, the 1/8 boys went to our track and destroyed the work that we had just completed.
Possible solution (I don't know whether the council will like it) - sink two steel posts into the ground either side of the track wide enough so they can't be hit during race days. Then padlock a steel RSJ (beam) across the track....they will soon get tired of racing on a small piece of track...you might have to do this in several locations around the track. The only problem is that it stops your own club members going up and practising during the week. |
When i get my (electric) buggy, i will be down at the mitchell park track most saturdays practicing, i'll have to take some old battery packs to hurl at any 1/8th drivers that come along.. Or we could ask nicely, and explain why they should have a little respect...

you need some sort of transmitter that puts all the frequencies used by rc cars so that if anyone trys to run on the track they get severe glitching. But can be turned off when want to race.

like one of those blacktowers for mobile phones :)

Apparently part of the problem is that they cant drive for shit. Supposedly there was one guy at Castle Hill trying (in vain) to clear the triples and consistently nosing into the last one, thus trashing it.
The problem at the moment is that the tracks are so fragile because of the weather that they get ripped up easily. What to the 1/8th guys do to their tracks to get them to stay together, or do the guys that race actually know how to drive... I think Cannons solution is the only way to go, when we spend some money at CH we'll have to put this in place. You can't spend a few grand resurfacing a track and have some dickheads ruin it. |
Hey.
Here in SA there is no place for them to race, and they are 100% not welcome anymore at our track. We are not zoned correctly for nitro use. Its a residential area and the noise that they timewasters make for up to 30 mins at a time is unbearable. I would hate to be the person living across the road, in fact if i was there would be police attendance more often. I am sorry, but 1/8th gas owners/tmaxx owners and the like should organise their own place to race and leave our 1/10th scale tracks alone. All of our clubs have spent/spend alot of money to build these tracks, and over and over again these ppl who don't give a ****, ruin it for all of us. I spend about 5-6 hours of my time every week cleaning up after these ppl, by myself. We have had them rock up while a few of us were working, and sure enough as soon as we said they should come and help us clean up, they all pissed off quick smart! Thats not fair. Why should we rebuild our tracks, so these ppl can destroy it. More so when they have been told they are not meant to be there because of the noise/damage/accident risks. From now on, if i see any gas powered vehicle at our track ( Mitchell Park, sdmmc ) i will call the police followed by a council complaint. Anyways sorry for the rant. Glenn |
If we could ban gas cars from the track it would be good. Unless it's a race day. Then you can run them.
But it will stuff up member's practise as will putting bars on the track. But I don't really see any other option. They really do trash the track. The poor guy who was trying to clear the triples ended up breaking his car and went. That's a shame isn't it. :D |
I took my 1/8 nitro buggy to the castle hill track once.
I can't say I did any damage, no big jumps there and my buggy understeered too much to make use of the narrow track, so I was gone after about 10 minutes. If that is an issue, I wasn't aware of it at the time, so the best solution to get rid of _some_ of the people you don't want on your track is a notice board saying that it's for 1/10 scale or electric only due to noise restrictions etc, and state what the council fine is - you know, like the parks have - dumping of rubbish prohibitied, $100 fine applies. that type of thing. I'd help on track maintenance if I was running there in any way. Cheers, Oggy. |
THANKS TO ALL YOUR REPLIES>
I like the one from cannon, unfortunately council wont allow us to do this, as track has to be made available to the decent users of St Ives showground, general public and local residents who take their young children there for a play with their toy r/c cars, possible future r/c champions. The Ranger has been a great help, he keeps a constant check on track, unfortunately he has to have time off and these alleged DRIVERS know that. I think that the other idea of some type of 'scrambler' could be the go. The 1-8th idiots would think that it was the alcohol that they were consuming that may be affecting their driving skills (or rather- lack of ) Cheers, hope track holds together for next weekend, Any other help greatly appreciated. |

Noticeboard- if the youth of the area didn't destroy every thing in sight this may be an option You may not have thought that running the buggy on the track hurt anything, and one buggy for a short period of time probably didn't do much, but 5 or 6 cars regularly is a different story. Particularly when they, like all of us, are somewhat obsessed with getting on the gas as much as possible. The gas cars at Castle Hill aren't able to be banned as they are able to be used on race day and as such there isn't any reason, from the Councils point of view anyway, that they shouldn't be able to run during the week. It doesn't surprise me that you didn't enjoy it much either, the place is so tight for a 1/8th scale that you'd hardly get to touch the gas...boring. I'm guessing that its just too far out to Liverpool to the 1/8th track for these guys to travel. |
