I need some information regarding paypal. Im planning to buy some items overseas in USD. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does paypal charge a conversion fee? Also before you send money to someone in USD, does paypal let you confirm the entire cost to your credit card? i.e fees, conversion rates etc...

Paypal charges the person receiving the money, much like how banks charge shops when you use ur c/card. I just use http://xe.com for a rough idea what its going to cost in Aussie $$, think "wow thats a darn good saving" and pay..
Have you joined up with paypal? you have to join up and confirm a number printed on your bill, thats if they still do it that way.... from memory your limited on what you can spend untill you enter the $$...?!

I've used Paypal before with my Westpac Visa card.
I believe that Paypal submit the charge to your credit card in U.S. dollars and that is all.
In my case either Visa or Westpac convert that to Aus. $ on my monthly statement. The conversion rate I got was about 1 to 1.5 cents less than what is reported on the evening news.
Paypal apply their fees to the person receiving the credit card payment, nothing to the person paying with a c/c.
Hope that helps. Oggy.
