I guess it depends on how and what insert you use.
I got both molded inserts and sponge in without cutting them.
It was bit tricky but TC ones goes in. ;)

sounds like mini at Windsor could be on for some fun. With MECA only a week after Rubbernuts, i didnt think i would be able to race, but now i might have a play in mini. Cannon do you think you could get the green taxi around the windsor track? Ill take it easy on you and stick to the Nicad packs

The Green taxi is ready  1.25+ volts 4200's should help

RP30/RP36 tyre

Has any one tried Take off tyre for Mini?? What is the diameter?

cannon 06-18-2006 04:39 AM

Hiroshi. The RP Mini tyres are about 53mm diameter off the rim. That is about the same size as Shimizu tyres so not as big as Tamiya 60D

H I 06-18-2006 05:03 AM

Thanks Greg. Any reasons you don’t sell take off mini inserts?

cannon 06-18-2006 05:09 AM

I could only find the strips. In my Shimizu's I am actually using Touring Car inserts . Seem to work great

hi guys, iw as wondering that myself with using tourer inserts on mini wheels.. IM thinking of this combo:

tamiya black re-inforced rims
tamiya super slicks

and then whack some normal tourer size inserts in the middle..

(i imagine a bit of shaving is needed??)

Cannon, care to share some light on how u used the tourer inserts please?

thanks

Shadows 06-18-2006 11:35 PM

oh yeh, yeh i know this is a bit over the top for the mini, and sorry if this has been covered before..

but I have some trf shocks (with standard yellow springs) around that i want to fit on to the mini...

is this possible? if so, how many o rings should i use to change the height? oil? springs?

thanks again

I am not a Mini expert but here goes. In my Mini I used the following:

In Shimizu tyres - touring car insert cut into strip and reduced to length to fit very snugly inside tyre

60D tyres - complete touring car insert in tyre (not cut) then a foam strip around rim . This stops a lot of flex in the 60D sidewalls.

Hope this helps

Touring car insert works well. Just cut it to size. I normally put it inside the mini rubbers to see how much I need to cutoff and then glue the ends.

TRF shocks are good. I got 2 o-rings in mine.

If you look on the Tamiya USA website and look for the article on Mini tuning. It explains all about setup, shocks etc.
