Hi,

What LiPo will fit in the RDX PHI

I read on other threads that it is very difficult to fit due to top deck (?).

Cheers :D

Just wondering for the 19 turn motors would a spool be better to run or stick with the one way?

SMC 4000's will fit 20.5mm they are approved hard case
Try tony from Harris RC

OLD 69 06-11-2008 07:37 PM

LiPo's... i have run the Orion 3200 hard case without too much trouble. Have not tried anything else.

19 Turn i would probably stay with the spool. Makes for a much easier car to drive. If the grip is really high i may consider going back to the one way.

lipo battery

i use charger lipos they are a bit smaller than other lipos and fit easily into the rdx and phi
the person i get them from has asked the manufacturer to bring them out in a hard case and he is now in the process of doing it

I might answer this one...

From what you have explanied here's how i would do it.
Purchase the standard EU rubber version. This will work fine on asphalt and carpet with rubber tyres. The only item you would need to purchase separately is a spool # 79156, especialy when running hotter modified motors.

IF/WHEN you would run on capet with Foam i would purchase the following:

# 79690 Complete Differential Set **Must use**
# 79672 Diff Pulley **Must USE**
# 79828 Adjustable Front Chassis Stiffner **More of a tuning option**
# 79286 Left 6 Degree Front Caster Block **Tuning Option**
# 79287 Right 6 Degree Caster Block **Tuning Option**

The Diff is a must with carpet and foam, makes the car much easier to drive and you can use brakes as you please.
The stiffner is used so that you do not have to purchase a whole 3.0mm chassis, using this and the rear brace (included in kit) will make the car stiff enough to use on carpet.
The C hubs are a good option with foams as they aid in settling the car down while still maintaning steering. This would be the last option i would buy.

This way you can have the best of both worlds without having two separate cars.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi Ari,

I will be racing in CC ACT (carpet), just wondering.... apart from the above changes, would shorter camber links, stiffer springs & sway bars help with the higher grip ?

Also, I have heard that some foam rims with offset can be an issue for some electric cars ... are you aware of any issues for the Phi ? I will probably be using 1mm offset on front and 0.5 on rear (ZAC Kawahara BB rims)

Thanks

Alan

I see on REDRC they are touting the revised edition of the PHi that will be used shortly. Have a close look at the picture and see what other brand parts you can spot :lol::lol:

Looks suspiciously Japanese

I dont think they will release these parts alot of the guys are just testing different parts on the car to see what difference they make. As most are Foam tyre specialists they try alot of different setups when they run rubber tyres.

The Orion 3600/3800 lipos fit fine. Their embedded plug connections are perfect for the Phi. The new 3800s (30C) are just becoming available and still need to be approved by ROAR (here in the US). Fitment of the 3600/3800 is a matter of filing/dremeling on the bottom of a single nut insert (right rear) that affixes the top deck to the chassis...a very minor issue.

Love SMC products; but, do not like the way the connection wires come out of their 4000/5000 lipo packs.

cannon 06-29-2008 02:55 PM

The filing of the nut insert will allow the Intellect 3800 to fit in the car and it is already ROAR legal

Good point; but, Orion's 3800 is rated at 30C as opposed to 25C for the Trinity...If we can trust their method of measuring the discharge rates.
