You are to be commended for your initiative and might I say bravery in taking this step. For the sake of all the racers I hope it is a very successful and profitable venture for you.

Whilst all the above feedback is great from a racers POV, make sure you don't forget about the remaining 95% of the radio control car market ie the hobbyist that just runs their car up and down the street or races their neighbour. Granted their car will likely end up in the shed or garage after two months, but that's not your problem.

Perhaps take a look at Melbourne Track and Hobby as a benchmark. Apparently they've been in business for around two years and yet have only held one organised race! What does that tell you about their revenue streams? I suspect it is not coming from the racing community!

I also hear they're doing good business out of kids parties. Might sound silly, but it's a huuuuuuuuge market compared to the miniscule racer market. Besides, look at all the comments in various threads about people buying their RC gear from O/S... they're all hard-core racers and the same people who'll be coming to use your facility.

By all means take heed of what is said here, but perhaps consider that 95% of your energy and resources needs to be consumed in satisfying the needs of the rest of the market.

Excuse me if you know all of this stuff already (you probably do), but I just thought it was worth pointing out.

Sorry you took my last post the wrong way. I wasn't commenting on the time to get the place up and running, rather that Matt is driving well and his stay in novice will be a short one.

No problems Mad Mackem. With a facility for people to go to any time of the week to practice, im sure Matt wont be the only one going up the ranks in a hurry.:)

Ummm sorry bud, the weekend of the state titles for noisy tourers, i was entered in the offroad nationals at ryde, a type of racing which i first started in. I do have a noisy tourer but have only run it a couple of times, the only major meeting i have run it was at the summer nats at eastern creek, with engine problems i still managed to finish 5, ahead many of the moorebank guns.

While the top few in the noisy tourer finalwere very impressive, there are still a lot of gains to be made by the majority. i enjoyed driving the few times i have, but i cant justify the extra dollars spent on engines, tires etc that they chew through. Electric mod is also very expensive to run. And unfortunately i do have a limited income.

And unlike the clarke saga i was not given everything to run.

but im still running a very cheap engine.
and my electric 540 chewed thru more tyres then my v-one s.
and i drive the S harder then i ever could the elect.
