Exclamation Its Coming.....................

I'm pleased to announce to all Sydney electric racers that we are in the final stages of lease term negotiations for the establishing of Sydneys ONLY PERMANENT INDOOR RACING FACILITY.

After a significant period of time, we feel we have found premises considered suitable for this purpose, & can at this stage feel comfortable in saying that it will be located in the industrial region within Wetherill Park N.S.W.The subject premises is "stand alone" with ample car parking.

At present, there is no "club" or "committee" as such established, & although a little early, I welcome any enquiry via P.M from anybody wishing to be involved in that particular capacity. Further, I welcome the input of anybody wishing to offer feedback as developments unfold or any assistance they feel they can offer. Essentially, we are happy to take in any input to enable us to offer the best to the racers.

As well as premises negotiation, we are in the process of obtaining all relevant insurance cover, & we are obtaining some info from the Dept of Fair Trading regarding the hours of operation etc. There WILL BE an attached "Hobby Store" within the facility.

I intend to visit this forum reqularly & will answer as many questions as possible.

Thankyou.

Sounds like a sensational development, cant wait to have a good track available rain hail or shine, just dont make it a car killer.

If you are already this far down the track, how about you be honest with the members here and post your name?

Kind of hard to trust an anonomaus post.

Brad,
I appreciate your comments. I think many will agree that it is looooong overdue to have a facility such as this. Whilst some existing facilities are very good in Sydney, we hope to be excellent. Further to what you said about weather, personally, im excited by the prospect of having somewhere practice, test setups etc, timed or otherwise on any boring weeknight such as a Mon, Tues night. I hope to have permission from relevant parties to run from about 3.00 - 11.00pm 6 days a week, with extended hours during School Holidays.

Clarify for me your comments re "car killer". Personally, I like what Steve at Eastern Creek is using.

I am an anonymous party to these forums, & releasing a name will do little to help. I have been involved in racing for a while however, but I am essentially nobody special to these forums.

Re knowing you, we will never get a chance unless you introduce yourself.

What surface will it be?

Re car killer track, i mean using boards like old hurstville, and sticking with track layouts that people have problems with.

Aslo pipes are pretty good, with smooth wood corner markers. also we have a few ideas about other items, come and chat to one of our group at a track or give me a call on 0414 864 111

Default Track Surface.

Because the intended facility was an Engineering Facility, a "re surface" is required because of the smoothness, or lack thereof, as well as some SERIOUS grease. At this stage, it will be brushed concrete, to a quality that would NOT CHUNK FOAMS, for those who choose to run them.

Excellent stuff.....
Finally we can go somewhere to practice and have fun.
Have you already decided on a "shop tennant"? I'm sure there are a few established hobby shops around that would love to set-up shop in there with you.

Motorsport00 - Dont want to "overpromise" at this stage, however, I hope you can imagine, it is a huge undertaking to do something like this properly, especially when there are no real precedents to learn from. We dont intend to dissapear in 6 months, which is why the process of securing the right terms of lease, including the right options on expiration is so important. Effectively, getting it set up correctly NOW, will help to create a solid, long term base to build on. Suffice to say, it will NOT BE before the end of this financial year by a long shot. We just wanted to let you all know though, that its on the way.

Suchi- There are plusses & minuses to "sub-leasing", but I lean toward doing the retail side ourselves. We want to create our own impression, & control our own pricing. We want to avoid the situation where parts for spares are jacked up because someone has no option but to buy it, or finish their days racing early.

There is something frightening about the thought of GLUE & CONDOM in the same sentence.
