Thanks for highlighting this, as a lot of other people said, I wasn't aware of this "feature" in ebay either.

My wife did just point out that there are automated sniper systems which will try to bid for you on the last second of an auction. These may be where some of these 3rd Party accounts are coming from.

Cheers, Graham

this may not be what it is used for. i don't use ebay often, although i have placed a few bids at say $250 as my max, and let the automated bidding kick it up for me if required. when i checked my account though i did not have this feature on so it must be used for something else?

maybe it allows private companies to see your record of sales etc :( some sort of marketing info sharing thing?

i suggest that those who've had the problem to email ebay directly.
perhaps if enough pple were to highlight this issue, then they might do something to close this loop hole.

oblivion 11-19-2006 05:32 PM

someone needs to teach that s.o.b. from auctionworks a lesson.

i rarely use sleaze-bay, too many scammers, theifs and scumbags.. also ebay + paypals TOS absolutely sucks (if you ever bothered to read it)

but that biatch http://www.rctech.net/forum/images/icons/icon13.gif had added himself to my 4p/auth aswell and ive never even purchased from him!!

how the hell can they do that, maybe we should all go add ourselves to his list so he has 1000+ ppl in his 3rd p/auth. :ha:
