Default 2022 Castle Hill Vintage Festival (10th and 11th September)

Hi all,

After missing out on the Festival for two years in a row we have finalised a date for the Festival this year and with no gov. event restrictions in place, we are good to go. The date is set for Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th of September.

We have an exciting new format this year, which will guarantee some really close racing, plenty of laughs and time to chat with mates and reminisce about the good ol' days.

We also want to invite all of those people out there who don't race, but love driving their cars and want to maybe experience driving on a track or dip their toes into the world of vintage racing. There will be track time set aside to give you a stress free time on the track. This time will also be for anyone to drive a really delicate car they may have, but don't want to race it. So block that weekend out on the calendar, start buying the missus flowers, fixing stuff around the house and what ever it takes to build those brownie points up, it's going to be a cracker of a weekend.

I will add the event guidelines to this post when we have them finalised.

Link to a short YouTube vid outlining the new format for the Festival.

17.5 Truck

Mikey recently posted on Facebook about the option of expanding the Stadium truck class to include Outlaw trucks and there was a lot of positive feedback with people excited to run their XXXT or RC10T4 trucks and some Rustlers too.
The aim is to keep the Vintage trucks (1997 & older) a separate sub class compared to the Outlaw trucks, but all trucks will race together and if enough numbers entrants will be graded on lap times.
Vintage Trucks:
Associated up to T3
Losi up to XXT
Schumacher up to Storm 2000
Kyosho – various prior to the RT5
Other trucks released up to 31 December 1997
Outlaw Trucks (must be rear motor)
Associated T4 and T4.1 Losi up to XXXT Kyosho RT5
HPI E-Firestorm
TQ racing SX10T Team C TC02T Traxxas Rustler
4wd Trucks
We will allow 4wd trucks, such as the HPI or Losi Heavy Metal, but they will be a separate sub class and not awarded trophies, just bragging rights

Nitro Trucks converted to electric

If the conversion results in mid motor layout then these trucks will be treated like the 4wd trucks, they can race but not awarded trophies. They should be entered in the 4wd class. If the conversion results in a rear motor setup then they can compete in their respective era. Send us photos if you are unsure.
Mid Motor Trucks. Generally, these are discouraged. If you have an otherwise eligible truck converted to mid motor truck you can run it but are not eligible for podium positions/trophies and you should enter it in the 4wd truck sub class.

How do I know what truck I have?

Look on RCScrapyard RCScrapyard • 4000+ Radio Controlled Models Archived and Reviewed and search your truck for the model and year released and let us know
Motor
All Trucks can run any 17.5t commercially available 17.5 motors. Separate prizes/podiums for Vintage vs Outlaw trucks will mean you don’t need a T4.1 to be competitive.
Brushed options that are the 15T or 20T sealed can brushed motor , there are a couple that are available including the Core-rc one and Dynamite and the HPI firebolt, these all look like re- badges of the same motor and all have the internal fan which aids cooling. Links below, if you find another re-badged one that you want to run, just check in first so we can see if it’s the same motor

Stock Truck:
This is a class that is skewed for juniors / enthusiasts and to encourage the use of older trucks. The idea is for a class for lower points trucks (based on the Enduro buggy list 2.5 and below) and evening them out with motors.
So trucks below 2 points run sport tuned, trucks at 2 points run torque tuned and 2.5 point trucks run the Johnson 540.
Juniors get to run 1 motor grade higher so a junior could run a Torque tuned in a Losi LXT and juniors are allowed to run 3 point trucks with a 540 Johnson motor. We can also allow 4wd trucks if there’s interest which includes the HPI RS4MT.
For converted 4wd buggies based on 4.5 point cars such as Lazer will run the Johnson 540 and lower point 4wds will run the torque tuned.
Attached a pic of the trucks and their respective motors that can be run. We might also utilise the enduro driver points system where maybe Bronze and Silver/Bronze drivers can run the same options as the Juniors. We have included a list of which trucks go with which motors and which drivers
You can swap out the Sports tuned for ANY 21.5T brushless motor and the Torque Tuned Motor for a Fixed Timing 21.5T brushless motor rated at less than 2100KV (see 2022 guidelines).

Here is a comprehensive list of all 4wd's with their class next to them. If on a PC you can use control+f to find your buggy. Originals class buggies should be close to stock, but if you want to hop them up (e.g. MIP ball diffs and upgraded steering in a Hotshot) then you should go up to vintage class. Let me know if we need to make any corrections. Thanks

To make the entry process easier can everyone please set yourself up on rcsignup now. You should have your transponder numbers handy when doing so and list all the cars you want to race. I will include video instructions in the comments below. Click on the link to go to ‘Racer’ registration.

Hi Everyone, just wanted to clarify 2wd rear motor to mid motor converted cars - emphasis on the word 'converted.'

Mid motor conversions are generally not permitted, with a couple of minor exceptions and will not be eligible for the main podium prizes.

We are talking about where people want to convert their rear motor Losi XX, JRX or XXX or RC10 et al into a mid motor 2wd buggy. We are not talking about 2wd cars that were released as mid motor, such as Frogs, Hornets etc.

Feel free to PM me us you have any questions.

Thanks
