Default CRX steering stop

Hi,

I have a Hitec CRX and after letting the young un have a play i've found that when i turn the wheel it now rotates further anti clockwise than it did before.

Is there some kind of stop that's broken?
Can i fix this myself?

Cheers
Mark

just a bit of a update.

Decided to take a look for meself and found the stop is behind the steering wheel.
And it was broken

Odd thing is, it looks to have been repaired previously
I was told it was a new tranny when i bought it.

If i can't repair it i'm guessing the only option is a new case right?

Also a little off topic.
But does anyone know if i can get thicker foam or a bigger steering wheel?

I only have the use of 1 arm and have to steer using my thumb.
It's a bit too much of a stretch when braking and turning right at the same time.

Cheers
Mark

Hello Gixer,
Unfortuntely, the only fix is to get a new front case for the radio. Due to your location, you will need to send the radio to our sister company in Germany, Multiplex. I am not sure what they will charge for the new case. You will need to create a service ticket on their website. www.multiplex-rc.de

Ok thanks.
I've just opened a ticket.

Any idea on where to get a bigger wheel or thicker foam please?

Unfortunately i do not know of an aftermarket steering wheel for that radio. I suppose you could add another foam wheel to the outside of the the original one and glue them together. Let me know if you think that might work and i will send a couple of foam pieces to you.

I'm willing to give it a go.

My only worry is the extra leverage might put more pressure on the stops.
Are these a regular failure point or is the young lad just heavy handed?

Had a reply from multiplex btw.
no, sorry we have no spare cases for this radio, but you can send it complete and we can give you an offer for a new one. We can estimate costs when we have the radio in.
Went to the post office today and they will charge 32 euros to send the transmitter from Greece to Germany registered and insured.
Modelsports in the UK are doing new controllers for 99 pounds (114 euros) and i can get free postage from the UK.

So i don't really want to send them the transmitter only to find out it's going to be say 80 euros to replace it, then pay 60 euros postage total.
That make sense?

How much would you sell me a case front for please?
If you don't want to put the price on the forum then please feel free to PM me or send me a email.

Cheers

Hello Mark,
Unfortunately, FCC regulations does not allow us to send out radio parts for the end user to install. BTW, it is pretty involved to replace the front case on that radio anyway. The broken stop on your radio is not a common thing, i think your son is getting pretty strong these days. Sorry for the inconvenience.

To get a new case for your radio, you will need to send the unit in to our repair facility. Here is a link to the procedure on how to send in your radio.

Just a bit of an update.

Unfortunately i was unable to return the controller during the summer.

So instead i purchased a new CRX thinking i can use this one while i return the older one for repair.

Unfortunately the new one doesn't work and although i've opened a new ticket with multiplex no ones responded in a week.

The new one seems to have a bad connection at the battery, as the controller socket is extremely loose.
I've contacted the shop i purchased it from, they have told me that Hitec Europe will not allow them to send me a replacement.

It must be sent away for repair (multiplex i guess).

Problem is, as i'm in Greece it takes 1 week for a package to arrive in the UK (where i purchased it from) it will then take a further week to get to Germany and back again then yet another week to get from the UK to Greece.

So even if they repair the unit within 10 mins i'm still going to be without a controller for 3 weeks at the very least.

Again this on a brand new controller.

I'm extremely unhappy.

Cheers
Mark

Another update.

The shop swapped out the transmitter as soon as they received the faulty one back.
So all is good.

Have sent Multiplex several more emails but still no response.

Have tried contacting Hitec directly via email but again no response.

I am sending my correspondence to the email address listed on the Hitec site (service at ....).

Is there a different email address i should be using please?

I'd also like to purchase some of those brake pads that come with the new transmitters please (the foam pieces that fit in the throttle cage).

I've searched for spares or even a part number but have been unable to find anything.

Cheers
Mark
