hello, i really want a somewhat strong steering servo for my Tmaxx. is the 985MG enough? i dont race but i tend to be hard on RC cars and trucks. i also looked at the 5998tg. now i know this is better ( cause its more $$ and Titanium ) i found the 5998tg for $96 and the 985 for like $70 off tower. is it really necessary for what i am doing?

For your everyday runningand even some racing, the 985mg is a good choice for a steering servo and will perform nicely what you need it to do. I do not see a reason why you would need to go all the way up to the digital 5998tg.
The 985 should do nicely.

i can get the 5998tg for $96 shipped off of ebay. and the 985mg is $69.95 on tower......+ $8 shipping $78. so for less than $20 more i can get the other servo, will it work with the stock Tmaxx electronics? for $20 extra, is it worth it?

The only thing I see as a potential problem with the stock electronics in the T-Maxx is that it uses 4 AA batteries to power the receiver and servos. The AA alkaline batteries are not able to deliver enough current to the higher torque servos under load so you will probably need to upgrade that part to a rechargable NiCad or NiMh battery.
