645 - 965 - 985 ?

Hi,
Im about to try your servo line ... i installed a 645 on the throttle/brake system of my TNX PRO Monster truck and after half year of full racing hard, no problems or play on the gears at all ...
Now, i need servos for my buggy, im not looking for SO HIGH torque or speed, something on the .10 - .20 speed and 10kg+ torque its ok, so ... i was looking on the 985 servo ... can anyone give me an opinion on this, i would use on steering and throttle/brake on a Buggy 1/8 offroad and hard racing will be put on that setup ...
Im looking specially for reliability, i invested good money on 2 other high end pricing brands with very bad luck, specially on the "find play on the servo after a 45 minutes final" area ...
thanks,
Pat

The 965mg (speed version) or the 985mg (torque version) are both good choices for your buggy. They will be every bit as good if not better than the 645mg servos you have installed in your other car. The 965/985 servos also have bushing supports in the top case for the gear shafts to prevent wear in the case causing gear slop.

After some persuasion from the hobby shop i decided to try the 965mg servo for the front brakes on my 1/5 to my dissapointment it lasted one heat before melting.Should this have been recommended to me for this application if so what factors could have contributed to its failure.I am a little annoyed that a warranty procedure is not even an option especially after i have spent approx $1000 in the last month on HITEC servos for the 1/5 cars i have been selling.

For throtle applications, is analog or digital the recommended servo?
Also, I use a Spektrum control with the automatic fail safe. How long should a servo last in my CRT and my XXX-NT?
I was thinking about the 965
Thankyou

As for why the servo "melted" that’s only going to happen if an amperage load is constantly applied to the servo and exceeds the ratings of the amplifier. How was your setup? Did the servo have a constant load applied to it in its neutral position? Were you using an ABS brake function with the servo that would have had a hard pulse setup? Also what voltage battery are you using to power the servo?
The ABS has not been hooked up and i am using a 2000mah 6v battery pack all cpa and epa are adjusted on installations so the servo has to do as little as possible.
