The purple springs are too stiff for a stock motor. Perhaps that is were some of the power is lost. Try Grn or Red springs, lesser tension will allow the comm to spool up faster and maintain RPM. High silver brushes are preferred to get the most out of your motor, at the cost of the life of the comm.

Hi Neil
Yes you are right about the purple spring ,and I do used those red and green spring on green machine and PK2, WHAT I didn't understand it, It works very well with 767 brushes and I could not believe the difference.I 'm talking about this binary motor is crazy fast

The motor is fast, but the problem I see is that it overheats. Even gearing it down does solve some heat issues, but then power is lost. I suppose it's a delicate line. Still testing.

Ova,

I'm not havin any problems with the new binary stocks. They run fast. Iittle less in the torque dept. but awsome for bigger tracks.
Maybe you should come down to our next club race and let me have a look at it. We are racin on the 14th and the 21st at cloverdale. or just give me a call. We can exchange notes.

Let me know how it goes.

Jesse

Two questions:

1. How long should I go before I replace brushes? Assuming that there is no discoloration, I de-glaze the face after every run and re-true the motor every 2-3 runs.

2. For the newest epics (just bought a higher number Monster pro. 69watts and 105 N/mm) what are the best brushes for stock TC. I have 4499, 4503/4, Putnams and 767 in my box, but no dyno.

I usually use 767's for club racing because they are cheap ad easy to find. In our area putnams are a little more spendy and a little harder to come by, so I just save them for bigger races when that extra little bit is needed. I haven;t tried the 4503's for a while, I might try them soon.

Oh and forgot about the other question. I usually run my brushes untill the serrations are gone, then I decide if I'm just gonna keep running them or replace them based on the performace of the motor. It usually depends on the brush a bit. 767's drop off really fast for me when the serrations go away, but the putnams seem to be fine for another 2-3 runs.

Sushi - Thanks!

What about brushes for the new batch of Monsters? I've heard rumors that 767s work better then Putnam on this lot.

Several people I know (including myself) have noticed this problem. We believe it to be a Com material change and NOT a problem in the brushes themselves.
It is disappointing though, as Putnams have been my favorite stock brush since trying/testing them a couple of years ago.
