Are you running under any rules?
if not.
1. 540 Motor
Team Powers super lite motors. 140grams standard.
www.team-powers.com
Cheaper option. If you put a EZrun in a lathe and do away the cooling ribs it can go down to 15Xgrams. Don`t do the ends as they are glued.
2. 380 motor
Supports standard pinions but it probably needs a new motor mount. 72grams.

That and a 2s-3s flight pack and your way down in weight.
This might be possible to do on a Tamiya F1 due to the RM-01 chassie parts.
3.
Next then is a 1/12 servo
if not.

I have done it. Seems to free things up a little. I think I may have picked up a tenth of a second by removing the shields. You will have to stay on top of your bearing cleaning though because they will get dirty fast. I actually prefer to pull one shield off and run the unprotected side where it is less exposed to the dirt and grit. Ex. the outer front wheel bearing is shielded by the tire and unshielded inside the steering knuckle.

Yesterday during the practice before the race, the right front wheel came off and I thought I had a broken knuckle arm. But it turned out to be a failed wheel bearing. The inner bearing had completely disintegrated. But I had a metal bushing to
But the FGX survived a qualifying heat with no damages yesterday!! The car performed well.
I received the new Exotek chassis yesterday and I am installing it now.

I have the shorty pack all the way to the front (to give the car more steering) without running into the steering post and where I need to put the back stop, there is no hole. It would be nice to have a slot for forward battery position...
Also the spur gear cover piece's bottom screw hole doesn't line up.

After following the tips from my last question I got my fgx to turn a bit better.
But it's still 1 second slower on every lap compared to f104's on our track.
Would shorty (I have huge 6000mah 2s currently), better traction combound (F104's are using something better than I have) and exotek chassis probably shave that 1 second of my laps?

A shorty mounted forward will help your steering even more, as will the weight reduction.
EFX chassis definitely helps durability IMO. A full second is a LOT to gain though.
You need to look at drivetrain efficiency if you haven't already

Does the Exotec chassi allows the IFS system?
#3986
Not out of the box but check out our build of the IFS for the standard chassis and the same kit installed on an Exotek chassis with a few modifications to make it fit. Build info here.
Happy New Year!!
