Default Motor mount pics

Here are the different motor mount pics that are available from Serpent as well as the center leg mounts.

Pic 1 are the V1 And V2 mounts with the two different center legs.

Pic 2 is the V3 one piece mount with the lowered motor mount screws for easy access.

Pic 3 is the ERYX 3.0 (V4) motor mount with the low motor screws.

Thanks. I found a source to get one at a decent price. Need to wait a little. Just stocked up on mini supplies for the season (and batteries, a few tools, buggy parts...)

Gary, I have been trying to get the motor mount in your 3rd pic, the one you call a "V3 motor mount". However when I search for Serpent V3 motor mount I get this one in the pic...

So I searched for "Serpent V4 motor mount" and the correct one shows up.

Yes you are right. The v3 motor mount is as above. It was mainly to cater for stock racing where large pinions are used to get low FDR's. The ERYX 3.0 mount or V4 is the one with the low screws.

This isn't the least bit confusing.

The obvious solution is to just run mod.

Steve. You're absolutely right. I'm in. Having completed a total of 5 minutes practice time in stock TC, I've grown bored and need a new challenge.

I've ordered the V3, pn 401601. $39 on Amazon with $10 shipping. Weird thing is it's coming from DeSoto, but their website wants $30 to ship.

Interesting, I ran the V1/V2 mount without any issues getting a 4.0. I ran (and still run) 64p, but 47pin 96 spur was easy to fit. I run mostly RW spurs, but have also had Serpent, Xray, and ARC. I have the V4 mount on both of my cars now and I do not have to tighten through the spur anymore, but it really was not an issue before.

I Would suggest picking up a used TE that's in good shape. They can be had for $180 or less usually. It would be cheaper and you'd get all the upgraded bits over the sport model.

Received my V3 motor mount today. It's a nice bit of alloy. I noticed the vertical plate it attaches to blocks access to the lower mounting holes. Can the bit I've outlined be safely removed? I notice on the revision Gary posted above, that whole section appears deleted.

EDIT: Too late. It's done!
