They did have a unique whir sound on the straight, which is kind of neat.
Yes, it was certainly fun running with you, as well as other FWD and a few GT-3 cars.

Going to be the original paint scheme. White with decals.

I ordered a few motors, I wanna see which one is the best for this chassis I ordered a 2400KV, 3000KV and a 3300KV motor I wanna see which is the best suited motor for this chassis. We just started an on road car course close to where I raced off-road. And right now is bring what you have I have an M03M I run a 2400KV in this car and the FF03. I will take both to see what happens.

That Ford Mondeo on the picture is one of my favorite Touring cars. Should be from the 2000 BTCC season. Great 2 litre V6 engine on that car. Please show photos of your HPI body when you have it finished and mounted on the car.

Need to widen the car a bit.
Shell is the 200mm version, but for £10 ($14) I couldn't resist.
Car built as kit with kit 0 offset wheels is only 180mm wide.

Default Gearbox idler gear is weak

Took my FF03 to a small PL race in San Diego and during the first heat the car started making a sound similar to when debris gets stuck in the spur gear. That was not it so I tore the gearbox down and found the idler gear as missing some teeth and the remaining teeth had sharp edges from wear. Now, the car probably has several runs at the Tamiya track - probably more than most but regardless it only has a silver can motor and should be a bit more durable since it is supposed to be the same gear box as the 201 buggy. What a bummer cuz I really love this car!

Has anyone contacted Tamiya about the idler gear?

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Finished a race with the FF03. My car is the blue/yellow car at pole. Got involved in some carnage after the first turn and dropped all the way down to last place, but worked my way back up to third. As you can see, I have a hard time from a dead stop and quickly get caught by the 4WDs. Other than that, my new setup approach worked pretty good. I was able to match the fastest times of the AWD cars.

sorry about the shaking, was really windy that day.

Nice Vid, the track looks familiar. Yes, I sorted out the gear box. I was actually missing the bearing at the very end. Got confused since the bearings are practically right next to each other, so it was basically floating at the end. 15+ years of RC and I still make stupid mistakes like this. Go figure! I'm just glad I did not run it yet or else... bye bye gear box... bye bye!

What's better wheel tire combo. 24mm or 26mm and whats the difference is the 24mm less narrow then the 26mm or is the circumference less by 2mm. In other words is the 24mm a smaller tire or narrower then the 26mm and will the same tire fit the 24mm as the 26mm or no. The reason I asked I'm getting the Volvo 850 body and I don't have the BBS wheels that the original Volvo came with but I found a set of 24mm and 26mm I just wanna make sure that one fits, Thanks.

Just a quick thought, didn't Yokomo sell the YR-F with wider fronts and narrow rear tires?
