The whole advanced timing thing has gone way overboard. Any spec class, on or off road pretty much requires it these days. I never thought much of it until I compared my ballooning to my buddy's with the same gearing and turn motor, my GTB/Ballistic 17.5 wasn't even close to what his Tekin/17.5 could do, it was just pathetic. I think there should be some sort of rule limiting any type of timing/boost/turbo, the Black Diamond came along and wowed everyone again just like the Tekin's did at first, and now everyone wants one. It should be like old school 27T stock brushed motors, where timing was locked at 24 degrees on the endbell. Props to Novak for making something competitive to what's out there, but it's all just snowballing out of control in my opinion.

handout or specified fixed eeprom ROAR approved speedies from all manufacturers is the only way to solve it, you can't tech software. This moves the timing tuning back to the motor where it is more familiar for rulemakers.
ROAR and other bodies need to agree a maximum timing value or timing profile for spec classes and manufacturers need to prove their software can not exceed it for approval even if the esc is programmable for punch, timing etc.
enforcing this at club meets will be almost impossible though, as will convincing people their $300 latest speedies are now illegal
regular motorsports went down this path of locking down EFI controllers in spec classes awhile ago and it sucked then too.

prices will go down eventually ....
xtra how many deg. did u go my havok is just as fast as tekin running boost and spx's on profile 7.......im not trying to insult u but did u go past the little 10-20decal?
im not saying rc prices are not cheap but its a hobby u should be prepared to spend a little for the awesome new technology...its kinda what keeps are hobby alive and growing

Hi guy's,
Sorry i know this is an Kinetic thread but i was wondering what would be the better cheaper Novak option between the GTB/SS 17.5 $220ish or Havoc Pro/Ballistic 17.5 $190ish for onroad and why?
Thanks.

is the Kinetic supposed to be better than the KO?

The Havoc Pro/Ballistic 17.5 system would be the better choice, and cheaper. The Havoc Pro offers the same on-resistance as the GTB with updated on-board programming; and the system includes our new Ballistic motor.

Thankyou,
Havoc Pro/Ballistic it is then.

Would a havok 17.5 be good for corr racing ?
I got the havok sport system and was hoping to just pick up a 17.5 motor and run it. Will I have to buy a new esc as well ?
Oh and by the way when will the kinetic be available ?

It is for racing at a pretty small track.
Will the havoc esc work pretty good or will I instantly be at a disadvantage compared to the tekin ?
I am hoping to use the havok on the corr truck and get a kinetic for vta racing.
Dont mean to hijack a thread just wanting some info
