The only reason I avoid 3-racing stuff is to race in the Tamiya Championship Series.

GT2 Top

The GT-2 class has received a major makeover. This class is for intermediate hobbyists and racers wanting a TRUE SPEC class using the latest Tamiya chassis, brushless motors and battery technologies. Welcome to the NEW GT-2 class!

TA-05 IFS, TA05 Version 2 and TB-03 IFS tub chassis cars only.
Tamiya Hop Ops only.
Spec 17.5 Brushless motors only! For the 2010 season 17.5 motor technologies will be locked down to 3 manufactures to keep things simple for racers and organizers alike.
Novak (item 3417) Pro Brushless Motor 17.5 (Yellow Ring)
Novak (item 3617) Ballistic Spec 17.5-yellow tab
LRP (item 50850) X-11 17.5 Stock Spec (Orange Ring)
LRP (item 50852) X-12 17.5 Stock spec
Tekin (item TT2251) Redline 17.5.

Hard cased LIPO batteries are legal for GT-2 class racing. See general rules for legal TCS LIPO's.
All GT-2 cars must meet a minimum weight of 1400 Grams.
Any Tamiya 190 mm GT or Sports car body is permitted.
All car bodies must use the kit supplied ABS wing or Tamiya option wing (53470 or 53604). The option wings may only be used if the body has dimples already marked for the option wing mount
Tamiya 24mm tires and wheels only.
New for 2010: In an effort to keep GT-2 scale looking, dish wheels are banned from GT-2 class racing. Spoke type wheels must be used.
Any tire insert may be used.
Drilling extra vent holes to the wheels is illegal.
Changing the camber link positions on the car other than the way it was intended is not allowed.
GT-2 will adopt 8-minute main events

Besides nothing is better than Tamiya quality. For Tamiya cars that is.

Now i am getting confused after seeing the pic esp on the carbon rear damper stay. Is it the regular TA05's or IFS carbon damper stay that fits on the ver2?

Yes it's the IFS and it fits both cars as they share the same bulkheads.

53846 is what Tamiya recommends with the suspension.. But you can use either.

At what point is your car not allowed in the Tamiya's TCS? How much 3rd party stuff are you allowed to have, if any?

Chris Furman: You're gonna have a blast putting those parts on! I loved watching my ride get blinged out as I put each one on mine...

One thing that's a bit stupid on Tamiya's part is the aluminum servo mount. I'm not sure if you've ordered that part, but their servo mount requires a longer bolt and a nut as the right alloy servo mount is a through-hole and not a threaded hole...

I've been meaning to get a flat-head long screw and a nylon lock nut so I can use mine...

But you'll definitely notice a HUGE difference with the aluminum hingeblocks.

One thing though, did you forget the pivot balls? You'll need pivot balls if you're using the aluminum hinge blocks... Get the Tamiya fluorine-coated pivot balls, they're actually metal and not plastic. Jeff at Speedtech has some, I have an extra set since I thought that they were plastic, but I guess this extra set is now just a spare set...

Tamiya Hop Ops only. GT1, GT2, GT3 - They'll TECH you before you can race too. The 3-Racing parts are very easy to spot.

SPEC/Novice you can't even run the TA05V2 in.

Your really giving some thought on this one. Get the 53994 so that you can run the cool IFS bodies. By they way did I mention get the IFS damper stay. #53994 this is the part for the IFS damper stay in case you do not know it.

Does 53994 body post mounts shifted away from the original position? I got the other one and now i didnt wanna install it since the body post got shifted wider apart. most of my shells are made for the original post position.

Has anyone come up with a list of parts to convert the IFS to the IFS Ver2?

And does anyone see any benefits to changing the IFS-R to the Ver2 tub/suspension/motormount parts?
