Bring it to WCRC on Sunday. Race it with a 4-sale sign. You may sell it or you may change your mind.

Proof that a bit of cling film around a spectrum RX works.
I did that with a cheap r/c Jeep, and I take it any where. It hella works!

Size matters in this case, haven't seen the SPX. If it's what I think it is, then check out Tekkin's. I have no issues.

I am not one to disagree without the facts.

F1 series last weekend at WCRC, I am running a new 104Pro, no setup changes, right out of the box, my fast times are low 17s high 16s. The winner that day had fast laps of 15.7 I believe. I ran yesterday with no changes other than a new spur, i am getting a little faster. 16.2 is my fast lap. I let the track owner run my 104Pro and by his 3rd lap he turned multiple 15.4s with a 15.3 thrown in for good measure. It comes down to driving, you just have to adjust to how the 104 handles and it is just as fast as the 103. I personally cant recommend one over the other but i can tell you the 104 is very hard to get the rear to step out. and for me, new back to F1s(been 12 years) this car is fast, a blast to drive and right there with the 103s, no regrets at all from me on my 104 purchase.

moral of the tale (or my opinion) : there aint no destroying going on or performance advantage.

^ well said, seen some stupid fast f104s.

I might have to let you wheel my f103 if I get it dialed in so we can make a controlled experiment of it.

The main advantage of the 104 is that you can bang on the wheel and still get good laps. It's definitely consistent.

I just know that testing back to back for me, I could get .2 sec. better laps with the 103.

Im assuming your track is pretty big, judging by the 15+ sec laps. On a big, flowing track, the 104 can be very fast. The tracks in my area are pretty small & technical, and in that case, you can't overcome the 103's smaller wheelbase & wider tires. I much preferred the 103 to a 104. I didnt have the B compound tires, which would help (out tracks are low bite asphalt), but I still believe a 103 is faster for the style of tracks around here.

Thanks for that. I look forward to the results. The reason I ask is I need to find out if HPI F10 'bridgestone' tyres could be fitted to the F104, so if these new wheels are a close enough fit then it would be a solution

You are correct it is very big track and the current layout does flow. I uploaded this video this morning to give you an idea. Leave it to youtube to take a decent quality video and trash it.

I would agree and it only make sense the shorter 103 should be a touch faster on a highly technical track. I think the next layout will be just that for the KO race.

I used to run at the AV track all the time. Went to every TCS event they have had for the past couple of years. Fantastic track and good group of guys for practice every Saturday. But if you want to race more than three times a year, you need make the trip up to WCRC. This Saturday is a great opportunity to run with a bunch of other F1s. If the 33 mile trip is too far, PM F N CUDA for a ride!
