It was our first week and this week already looks like it should be twice as many cars. if we can keep that going we will be having 2 day races just to get all the heats run by monday a.m. in no time. 3 + 3 = 6. 6 + 6 = 12, 12 + well you get the idea.
Great Idea! Hold a two day BIG F1 race in Toledo this winter! Or maybe around the weekend of the Conference, like we used to do! That will give me a good excuse to come up and race!!

Ran my FXG today between VTA heats and it was pretty good. Silver can and Pit rubber tires it was just a bit slower than the VTA's (25.5) out of the box. I made up my own gear adapter and don't even know what the ratio was!?!? LOTS of rear traction, have to slow to get it to turn (kinda wish it could be raced this way, it's neat to have to slow for the turns and accelerate out ) I'll try different rubber, springs, and stuff to see if I can carry more speed into and thru the turns.

Default Silver Can Gearing

After racing brushless so long, I'm having trouble figuring the gearing for a silver can motor. My track is a medium-traction ozite, running foams. The track is 96' by 40', always a full length straight, and usually a sweeper right turn at the end. Can someone give me an idea for a good rollout?

Start with a rollout of 43ish and work your way from there.
Check temp of motor after a few minutes or if you think it is to slow gear up a bit.
We run a rollout of 48 t 50 at the big nitro tracks here.

We had our second F1 race yesterday. We had 6 entries this week. Last week was 3. One guy broke his exotek chassis and another couldnt stay for the main. We've been a little leaniant on the rules. The local hobby shop ordered the wrong kit (f104w) for a guy so he has only had a wide car with foams. They got him a new kit and he will have it for the next race and everyone will be on rubber tires from there on out.

Our class was the class to watch all day. Myself and the guy with foam tires battled it out all day during qualifying for the TQ. He ended up with the TQ by .02 seconds.

The main was the same way. Close racing between him and I the whole way. One mistake cost me a good chance at the win though. But damn was it fun!! We already have 2 more drivers for the next race. So we are up to 8. Which will be pretty good considering we average 35-40 entries each race.

Here is the video from the main. I'm driving the red F60.

We had our big Fall Classic race this weekend at Mikes Hobby shop, and we ended up having an F1 class. 6 entries. Our best turnout, and lots of positive feedback. Expect more F1ers in near future. Top 3 were F104W, F103, and FGX, very very close all weekend. My F109 and 2 HPIs filled in the rest. Was a lot of fun.

Thought i share a view pic's of a race we had in july this year.
It was a all Tamiya field and we had a blast.
We had F103's and F104 and i had a nice fight with one of the F104 drivers all finals.
We kept switching places all the time.
I started as 6th and finished 3th overall
Good clean fighting on the track

regards Roy

I don't know. Who makes that decision? ROAR or the home track? If the Home track does, then probably, especially after this weekends races.
Maybe we can start a riot in here and drum up some excitement and get the powers that be to consider it?
No flyer yet.

I would hope that they have something in place for the class. I never thought about who makes the decision for the classes...

I know no flyer, but are the dates for the race established?

RobK says that there are rules in rulebook. Basically 21.5, F1 Rubber tires, 180-200mm F1 chassis, etc etc.

Dates are confirmed March 15-18, 2012

More than welcome to join our forum and talk F1s and stuff with us! Us locals have already started dreaming of an F1 class at the Nats. We just hope to see it happen.

There are rules, but they are from the 90's...so basically the rules work around the F103/Corally type cars with pan car foams, etc.

here's the rules

(posted also on the F103 thread)

Hi guys,

Last sunday I won a F1 race on my local club track.

The car was just perfect, I was the only one in F103, the rest was F104Pro and F109.

My setup for this small and technical asphalt track, low grip :

Rear tire : Pit Shimizu R1 Soft
Front tire : Pit Shimizu F3 medium

Soft tamiya front spring (silver)
TRF damper, 400 tam, blue spring
500 000 oil on the friction plate
Soft T bar

Xerun 120A (punch 1, no boost, timing 22°)
Hobbywing 13.5
93/27

Thats pretty all, no more hop up (only the TRF damper and the alu steering turnbuckle)
The car was really easy to drive and very efficient !

I found these rules on the ROAR site a couple of weeks ago, Im looking for the link again now, these I had copied and pasted from the site to pm someone local. Now Im wondering if I found bad info. Am searching.

ROAR F1 rules

F1 - Rubber
• Any 1/10 scale 2WD direct drive purpose-built F1 chassis (F103,F104,F109,ect)
• 21.5BL motor (must be ROAR approved)
• 2S 7.4V lipo/6-cell NiMh batteries (must be ROAR approved)
• Rubber tires, No touring car tires ( F1- specific Rubber tires only)
• Realistic F1 bodies and wings with driver figure and head

RobK, who makes the decision on classes to run at the Nats? Already a discussion of VTA on local forum, but no one knows what rules are anything. And obviously Im trying to throw fuel on the fire and get F1 there. ANd of course we hope to see you there too. Can you clarify anything?

PS.
Kick ass Rock N Roll falcon you got there Robk
