Definately go with the mugen shocks. They are more durable than the HPI and Tamiya shocks, but cost the same if not a buck or so less. Really good stuff.
Klander- Surely power isn't the key to winning, however with a dialed in car being faster will help. I timed my R40 with the MT12 and running the Rody V12 and the RB is a heck lot faster than the MT12. Traction is unbelievable and the speed is outstanding. A lot of people told me "I can beat you with a TR" and I say to them, how can you tell me that when you haven't even raced or had any onroad experience? It's pathetic. Infact for those who tell me, I'd love to visit them, kick their butts in a race and post it on the net for their humiliation. . Anyway the vid is on it's way. This is with the rubber slicks. Man do they SUCK! Only foams on my R40 for now. LOL.

Sure thing dude I'll send away.
AI- Man the R40 was awesome drifting around some cones. I really need to get more of that done. IT's awesome!!!!!! The car would run straight, but actually did accelerate a bit slower. I could tell it was slipping. When I went to turn, the car spun out no matter what I did. Foams changed everything.

if you convert the front to a solid axle, the car becomes very drivable with rubbers.

HARK- cool vid, Did you flip your car on that vid, or just side spinning, I couldn't tell? Well I can't wait to hit the track tomorrow for some practice sessions... wanna whoop some Serpent's butt. My friend with the OS .18tz had to change engines to compete because he has to use .12 3 port lol... now on straights he is going to get whooped!!! Although he will be able to be more constand and move on instead of power drifts through the turns because of so much torque by the .18tz... I guess I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes...
