You're right, there's lots of things HPI should have noticed about the car pretty early on - shame it's taken over a year for the parts people need to become available!

you should be able to run stick packs if you use slightly longer screws for the little winglets and they'll hold them in to some degree.

HPI 1

Ok Pro 3 racers, the 3 is running well but I have to ask before I actually do this. I was told that you run the rear just a little stiffer then the front. The Pro 2 was the opposite in this regards. If anyone has some good input into the truth of this, fill me in.

I run the same spring and oil on all 4 shocks with great success. I've taken a look at the setup sheets from the Japan site and they are doing the same. I've tried it with stiffer rear than fronts... I found that it gave too much steering, so I switched back to same front and rear. The Prolinear grey springs and 40wt oil on all 4 work very well on asphalt. If you have the springs available I suggest try it both ways and see what works for you.

I also run the same spring/oil combo on all 4 shocks, I am currently using the green linear springs with 50wt. And since I put the 4 degree blocks on my car turns great!! BTW I race on asphalt.

HB chassis do not the the tape slots only the Kai replicas do.

Yep, HB does not have slots but since the chassis is narrow your filament tape could go around it to prevent your stick packs from wobbling.



Well, I already graduated from stock packs---- and side by side does make it a lot easier with the slots and all.

seeing as there are numerous different chassis out there like kai, penguin, prp, cross, hpi stock, HB, kai replica. whats your favorite one?

although i'm partial i still like the prp chassis, its rigid and can support the car w/ or w/o a top deck. but on carpet the top deck really helps!

well I like the HB chassis, I am only using the Kai Replica.

SInce my Pro3 likes to sit low the narrow chassis prevents it from hitting the ground while cornering.

the HB and Kai i think could not function well without the upper deck, unlike the PRP but will still go with the HB with the PRP upper deck, a little flex i think is still needed by any chassis.

My favorite by far is the HB chassis w/ HB upperdeck. it's stiff buy with just the right amount of flex. The car is fast and handles great through the turns.

Too stiff of a chassis makes the car to twitchy and sensative to minor changes.
