i am just picked up a 103. i have been reading over these forums.wow there is alot of info on here. am planning on running it on rubbers as our local track is low grip and generally cold.was looking at some TRG2400 TRG2201 TRG2300 (superion) wheels on rcmart. are these soft or medium? i am looking for hard fronts and soft rears(seems to be the way to go).what are ride tires like? what is the difference between type a,b,c?
also hoping to put a 04 diff/axle in as well.what parts do i need exactly to do this?

Are super soft.
I tried the hard fronts and s. rears on a low traction asphalt track and had some push.
I have a set of med fronts on the way.

like i said in previuos post,i have just picked up a 103. am completly new to direct drive chassis so i have some real noobish questions.....
1. the syspension system,do different friction grease weights make a difference?
2.what would the best spur pinion combo be for
A silvercan
B 27T brushed
C 17T brushless
3.i hear replacing the rear diff with a 104 is a good move for not losing diff settings? if done,can only 104 rear wheels be used?
4.if using a 104 diff,can only 104 spur etc be used?
5.are there any options for differnt front ends or is the standard set up all good?
6. with tires,i hear harder fronts are the go. is that the case?

1. the syspension system,do different friction grease weights make a difference? Yes they do. you will want heavier weights as the grip level comes up on the track.
2.what would the best spur pinion combo be for
A silvercan
B 27T brushed
C 17T brushless
You will want to gear for rollout. For a silvercan a rollout around 50-54 is what you should gear for. It will depend on motor temp also. I am not sure about the other motors.
3.i hear replacing the rear diff with a 104 is a good move for not losing diff settings? if done,can only 104 rear wheels be used? No, you can still use f103 wheels and tires.
4.if using a 104 diff,can only 104 spur etc be used? Get a spur gear adaptor. They cost a few bucks and allow you to use any spur gear. Using an aftermarket spur will also add more balls to the diff, so it smooths it out a bit.

Dontcha love us newbies ?? We're like kids...gotta ask questions every few seconds. Heres another.
1. Can someone tell me what level of upgrade each F103 chassis was. IE: F103RX vs F103RM vs F103LM. I know the TRF cars are top of line but where was the bottom and where was the top ?
2. What chassis other than Tamiya share parts or are considered most common to the F103. Cross 2008 seems pretty close but is there anything else thats basically a kissin cousin ?
3. Anyone tried either of these 2 rear suspension setups ? I know the TRG is more of a conversion kit. Does anyone know where to get it ?? I've looked around and can't find it.

My first Tamiya F1 car!
I have been following this thread for over a year and have wanted to build up an F1 car of my own. While this is my first Tamiya F1 car, it is actually not the first R/C F1 that I have owned. I had a Kyosho 1/8 scale version of this car (Williams FW-14b) and my wife threw it away! Anyway, after seeing the F103 15th Anniversary chassis, I knew that I had to build something special to go on it. The Williams FW-14b is my all time favorite F1 car and I have always wanted to replace the Williams that I had. I found the body on eBay last summer. My mods include:
Tamiya F103 15th Anniversary chassis
3Racing carbon T-bar
Zen diffuser
Shimizu slicks
Tamiya 5-spoke wheels
Tamiya Sauber rear wing (also found on eBay; heavily modified--center wing removed, end plates modified to match the Williams, and wrapped in "carbon fiber" vinyl)
Mirrors (made from styrene and finish nails)
Plugs for the wing holes (more styrene)
Full race livery decals
It is definitely my favorite R/C build to date.

Audi R8R Body set for sale
Guys I wont be using this body set for our Le Mans races (sticking with my C) I'm selling it for $85.00 (brand new in original box, what I paid for it). Will consider trading it for an F1 F103 body set.

Did a search and I was surprised not to see some mention of the Kawada conversion for the F103. Is or has anyone used it ? If so , what are your impressions? Also, anyone tried the roll dampener setup from Kawada ? Maybe together with the chassis conversion.

Thanks, e-mailed him although he hasn't been active in awhile. We'll see. I think I'm just gonna try the Kawada stuff and see for myself. What little I've read sounds good.
