Xray T2'007
#2101
Hi all
I just got a 007 and am trying to install the 2 belts for it. I have the diffs and the belts in place and when I rotate the spur gear, If feels like the larger belt is catching on something because there is resistance at a point. Has anyone had this issue and know some ways to solve it?
Also, how important is it to clean and re-oil the bearings before you run the car for the first time? I think those are blue rubber sealed and they are hard to get open. I have no problem with the diffs and spur gear being free and stuff so I was wondering if it was a big deal.
Thanks for the help

As for the bearings, it is best to oil them before the first time you use them.

Hi again.
I'm getting a little ahead of myself with this one but I was wondering where to start for gearing. I was gearing my TC3 at 7.5 FDR. With the XRay's light chassis I was thinking of gearing up if using a stock or C027 motor.

no, the xray uprights have a burshing that hold the bearing so they are smaller. the team tamale ones use the stock bearing

What's the best fan system to use these days? Are fan necessary? I've noticed some criticism on the MuchMore fans.
AWhich size spur will give the best range of gearing? Can the car resist small debris well enough to use 64 pitch on asphalt?
Also what arrangements of shims, spacers, hubs etc.. are a good starting point for setup?

Ok, I checked the car over to see where the belt was hanging up at. It looks like the larger forward belt will, at a point, start rubbing on the side of my front one way. That is, the belt would move to the side, start rubbing and then move back toward center. Is their some alignment problem somewhere? I did notice that, on the spur gear, one of those composite hubs that hold the bearings was installed backwards. I fixed that and the rubbing continues. I will check into your other suggestions when I get home today.
any clues (thanks for the help so far)
