Hi all

I just got a 007 and am trying to install the 2 belts for it. I have the diffs and the belts in place and when I rotate the spur gear, If feels like the larger belt is catching on something because there is resistance at a point. Has anyone had this issue and know some ways to solve it?

Also, how important is it to clean and re-oil the bearings before you run the car for the first time? I think those are blue rubber sealed and they are hard to get open. I have no problem with the diffs and spur gear being free and stuff so I was wondering if it was a big deal.

Thanks for the help

Check the screws on the spur gear, they may be hitting the upper deck. This is a common issue with the 007. You may need to add some additional countersink to the holes in the spur.

As for the bearings, it is best to oil them before the first time you use them.

check also that the screws holding the spur gear are not too long, damaging slightly the pulley in process, thus creating a hard point... happened to me on my T2 build initially.

I don't think I have the upper deck installed yet. I have the diffs and spur in place using the Alu upper clamps. I also have the rear upperdeck installed (just found out) but I don't think that is touching anything. I will check when i get off work.

Thanks again

Hi again.

I'm getting a little ahead of myself with this one but I was wondering where to start for gearing. I was gearing my TC3 at 7.5 FDR. With the XRay's light chassis I was thinking of gearing up if using a stock or C027 motor.

Default bearing question

i'm at work, so i cant measure them:

What are the size of the bearings that are used in the rear ALUMINUM uprights that Xray sells? Are they the SAME size as the bearings used in the team tamale ones?

no, the xray uprights have a burshing that hold the bearing so they are smaller. the team tamale ones use the stock bearing

What's the best fan system to use these days? Are fan necessary? I've noticed some criticism on the MuchMore fans.

AWhich size spur will give the best range of gearing? Can the car resist small debris well enough to use 64 pitch on asphalt?

Also what arrangements of shims, spacers, hubs etc.. are a good starting point for setup?

Did you get a new 007 Dane? You going to race asphalt in Trenton?

Check out www.teamxray.com Click on >>>SET-UP SHEETS
-there's a bunch of good info on the XRAY site.

See you soon!

Ok, I checked the car over to see where the belt was hanging up at. It looks like the larger forward belt will, at a point, start rubbing on the side of my front one way. That is, the belt would move to the side, start rubbing and then move back toward center. Is their some alignment problem somewhere? I did notice that, on the spur gear, one of those composite hubs that hold the bearings was installed backwards. I fixed that and the rubbing continues. I will check into your other suggestions when I get home today.

any clues (thanks for the help so far)
