Lots of people have trouble with the diff... its the biggest problem with the chassis. What you can do is pull out the diff hub, use a small screw driver and wipe a bit of CA around the thread in the diff hub, assemble after CA sets. This will give you a diff that stays tight.

Thanks Dragon, I am assuming with the amount of racing you do this fix has eliminated the screw backing out. As for other diff issues, I am sure I will be coming across them as I continue to run the Type R.

Actually this is not a diff specific fix. You can use this trick to fix any poor thread in a plastic or composite part.

After an 'incident' today I'm in the market for a new lipo. Been running Xray so dimensions haven't really been an issue but Im going back to the Type R now and I remember a few nightmares trying to find packs to fit!

Well I am running the Reedy 5000 hard case. They don't have much push off the top of the charge but stay very consistent. Some guys run the blue case SMC with good results. I assume you have the Flying Fox layshaft in place. If not that is a must.

Yeah I have the FF layshaft.
It just seems that the higher the 'C' rating the thicker the pack gets! My IP 50C (one of the ones that has just died) is way too thick for the type R.

I've been running the IP 5000mah 50C cells, not the bigger 5400. These seem to fit ok, but I still needed to dremel a bit of material off the rear bulkheads to be fully happy. Also removed some material from the battery tray to get them sitting a little lower (the rounded edges keep it up in the air) and also tape the cells in... then again, I'm picky like that!!
Basically, anything under 23mm I think is the limit..

I've been running the 5600s. Might try a pack of the 5ks, where did you get them from? Do they bulge like the 56s tend to?

Your best bet is a thunder power, they use the same case for all the 2s packs, and it is low enough to clear the bulkheads when using a plastic tray...you will need to have either the pulleys shaved down or a flying fox layshaft so it doesn't rub, but otherwise it drops right in.

As far as i know losi has no plans to redesign a 1/1o touring car. I do not speak directly with anyone at losi however, so i'd advise shooting an email over to them for the most up to date info.
The only other person who was using a type r at vegas was Brian Lutz, he made the stock a main with it but had some bad luck and broke out.
