It's encouraging to see the top drivers do so well with the 416. I'm looking forward to seeing their setups from the race, and what kinds of things they're doing. I've been running my 416 like crazy with CS27's on the rug, and feel like it's getting pretty close. I absolutely adore this car, it's by far my favorite sedan I've owned.

anyway, for the center pully, there seems to be some play as well, should it have some play or should i shim it up? i tried shimming it up and theres no binding, doesnt hurt lap time, but i wonder if theres any bad side effects to the car's wear and tear.

As for parts, they've been a little scarce in the US still. It looks like Tower, AmpDraw, Speedtech and TamiyaUSA will be options in the future. There's a few overseas shops that ship to the US VERY fast if you're in a real bind for parts, but it's a little pricey. They can ship slow for reasonable prices as well.

Hey guys, i have been testing a few things and have come up with some good results. I will be posting a setup asap.
As for bushings in your shocks i have tried almost everything. People at my local track refer to me as the "shock guy" lol. I found the bushings tend to make the car respond too quickly making the car difficult to drive. One thing i have always done is run 100-75% rebound but i control the speed of the piston using muchmore shock o-rings, they come in 30-50 degree ratings. I rarely use anything on top of the diaphram but if i do i use muchmore foam inserts which come in different thicknesses. So for tighter tracks with shicanes i would use full rebound and higher piston speed and for longer more flowing tracks i would use between 100-75% rebound but with a slower piston speed. Hope this makes sense to you guys.
Heres a shock tip(tamiya only):
when installing the pistons onto the piston shafts place a .2mm spacer under the piston to take out any slop. Also i like to trader out the lower plastic bushing(not the guide piece) for a 2nd o-ring. When you do this the shock will be a little more consistent and you can really fine tune piston speed with this setup.
I prefer Muchmore Perfect Silicone O-ring 40deg using muchmores shock slime.

Ya i did before i had to retire the 416 because of a split custom upper deck. It felt pretty promising but i could not wait for it to be repaired so had to go back to the old car. The old car tweaked way to ez which ruined many of my runs. The main thing i had to overcome with the 416 on foam was the weight in the rear. The excess weight in the rear of the car made the car over rotate entry/mid corner...it was a handful! I was able to move my esc forward about 6mm and installed a larger spur to move the motor forward as well. This made the car very balanced and above all, much easier to drive! I will post my foam setup along with the rubber one i have been workin on as soon as i can!
