I just know I'm going to go home pop on the stock springs and get the measurement your getting and then feel like a total goof.

anyone adding shims between the pin and bearing ?? I had some play (more then I like) and added a 0.10mm shim on each corner.

drilled cap + rsd bladder gives you zero rebound, you dont get trapped air getting compressed above the bladder.
shim under piston eliminate the play/slop, smoother shock
green slime helps lube and seal the o-ring

yes the bladder seals the top.
no foam above the bladder, all that does is increase rebound which you dont want.

Hi all
I always did airplanes and helicopters and now my first try with a rc car.
I have the Sakura XI Sport and I installed stabilizer roll bars and ordered a xcar 120A esc and turnigy 7.5t motor.
Now, what pinion ? how many teeth ?
I am newbie so don't want a "monster"
thanks for any advice.

start with a 24t, that will give you 7.08fdr, check your temps and go from there.

What would be the best pinion size with a 21.5T motor for racing in the novice class?
Thanks
Thanks

I typically run a FDR of 4.0 with a 21.5 Reedy Sonic. It's achieved through a 66t spur and a 33t pinion.
If you are starting out in novice class with the stock 81t spur, then I'd recommend throwing a 28t pinion to achieve a 5.8 FDR. Once you can handle the car, you can begin to gear lower.

what about for 17.5? what can i start out with?

I also run my reedy Sonic in 17.5 with the same FDR of 4.0. Timing on both my 21.5 and 17.5 is between 30' and 40', depending on track conditions.
I do have a tornado fan on both. It's the pink versions.
Gotta love these Sakuras. Two cars, for under $200.
