To fo along with that, something I had to do on my VBC to get 5mm ride hight in VTA was to cut 2 or 3 mm off the top of the lower shock eyelet. It does the sa me thing the -1mm spring retainers do.

You actually have to measure the eyelet, not the amount you cut. You want to make sure all 4 are the same length.

The part number for the 1mm down spring retainer is 53876. It is for the standard diameter spring.

anyone selling a lower tamiya carbon deck (13408014)?

I'll probably start assembling my kit this week, what extra size shims do I need?

3mm shims for steering (Item# 53585)
5mm shims for the internal input shafts (Item# 53587)
10mm shims for the differential and spool outdrives (Item# 53588)

The kit comes with some of these shims already, but having various thicknesses (0.1mm, 0.2mm, and 0.3mm) on hand will allow you to shim the gears more precisely.

Use the kit shim settings as a base, then check for feel from there. The key is getting the proper backlash between all the internal gears, the same as you would a pinion and spur.

The gear boxes should be free spinning and without bind once the upper covers are in place and screwed down.

As mentioned in the TB04 thread and elsewhere in this one, shimming the gearboxes properly takes patience, but is definitely worth it.

For steering, my TB04-R required a few extras to take out slop, but my Evo was perfect per the manual, it could be different on your build.

I'm selling a NIP tb04-R. Great for the Exotek conversion. Check it out in the for sale section!

I have a few dollars burning a hole in my pocket just waiting for that new lightweight front spool.....
I'd love to have it before the 8/1 weight reduction for USGT takes effect!

These are the ones that came with my Black Version kit

This kentech post implies that 42291 are 4mm shorter overall than the 42287, but otherwise the same.

Oh that makes sense as the part for the piston is the M model.

I'm currently running a 419x and really liking it a lot-I still have my bd7 2015 car but I am looking at running mod with the 419x and thinking about the exo6 for stock. Does this make sense or should I just get a second 419x???

I was thinking of the exact same thing but in opposite order. I have a ExoSix that I run for stock and want to get a 419x for running mod.

Same here. 419x for mod, 6MS for stock.
