They are fun cars to run. A little dated but against other Tamiya type cars they do well. I have a TA03R-S TRF version. I run it mainly at TCS races. I always have alot of fun running it. Lots of good stuff on Ebay for those cars to.

Wow the TA03 chassis, I used to have the RS TRF...
in my earlier days!
In those days the TRF (404,414) cars burned A hole in your pocket and they weren't even TCS legal!
I Honestly miss it!
It's great to hear people still race with it,
I always loved the car, too bad I don't have it anymore
Back in the days I still drove it I was thinking making A twin motored TA03, Combining the R with the F (or vise versa).
Though I never tried it, but I think it should be possible.
Do you guys think that could be done, and does someone ever tried it?!

Man when I ran the stock silver motors I ran a huge pinion gear to make it fast. I ran 33 with the stock 63 tooth spur. It is alot of gear but it made the 540 scream. It will get hot but when I ran GT-3 with mine and geared it hard.

Running with the silver can you need good corner speed to run that type of gearing. If you don't have any corner speed that type of gearing won't be fast. IN the straight it will rip and bog some in the corners but thats where good corner speed comes in to play. IT is hard to make these cars fast with a silver can because of all the gears on the 03 but you can get going pretty quick.

I ran a 33 tooth pinion with the stock standard 63 tooth spur all in 64 pitch. I think that made my rollout around 33mm or so with the silver can.

I had the speed but like any car with lots of gears it is still some work to keep upp witht he newer Tamiya 04's and the new 05 as they are lighter and have less gears. Overall I held my own and did well.

Well you won't have great acceleration with those motors and the type of gearing you need to be fast. To be fast you need gret corner speed. To be fast with those motors you need to have a great efficient working car. Then you can be rewarded with a fast car. Now it is going to be hard with a 03 as in general they are not the most effiecient cars out their since they have so many gears and a belt.

You need to make the transmissions as free as possible and keep the belt tension as loose as ou can with out it coming off.
