I used to race with the C class type shells on my F013LM. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas or experience with any currently available C Class shells that fit F103 sized F1 cars?

For Group C shells that are made for the F103, there's the Colt bodies at RCMart and the Chevron Dauer 962. For something a bit different there's the TRG Royce body.

There are other bodies available that can fit over the chassis, but are designed for the much bigger touring car size wheels so look a bit strange with the small F103 front tyres.

Someone I know really well is working on a 1/10 Group C car body for 1/10 scale Tamiya Group C/GTP cars and 200mm wide, 270mm wheelbase F1 cars such as your F103.

I will be painting up two bodies for me and my son who is starting out in f1.
I have picked out the main color but to make it easy on the announcer, I think the two cars should be easily distinguishable.

What can I do differently on each car so they are recognized as a team but easy to distinguish without using too much of different color?

Completely different solid helmet colors with only visor decals might not be enough...

Is there a common practice? Any suggestions ?


BTW, the main color will be light metallic blue and I will use the tamiya f60 decal sheets that came with the body.

I've never bothered to make my team cars easy to distinguish but it may be a good idea. An easy thing you can do is use alternate wing and/or wheel colors. A 2 tone paint scheme with either different accent colors or painted in reverse would also work well.

Helmets are just too small for most people to tell them apart at a glance.

I'd go with two different color wings, one car black wings, other car white wings. The wheels or helmet decals will be hard to see when the cars are running at race speed. The different color wings will be easier to see and as long as the bodies are painted the same, easy to tell that they are team cars, especially if the same decal set is used.

I was going to do different color spoilers like you guys suggested.
I realized I didn't have black paint so I went to LHS and they were out of black until Friday. I had already put maskng tape on all parts and I didn't want to wait until Friday. And they didn't have dark gray or anything close. So I had to get creative with the paint I had at home. I thought about using pearl white but instead went with plain white.
And my son picked blue so yellow one is mine.

runing in the wet. leave it up to the europeans. i dont think anybody here would dare run rc cars in the wet. although it would tell you who can really drive.
