I'm racing too this Weekend.
First Time on carpet, and gave your starting Setup a Chance.

What i chanced is:
Oil:
AE 35wt (= 425 cst)
Springs :
Front : yokomo Pink
Rear: Yokomo Blue
Rear Blocks :
1xa + 1E
Tires:
Lrp/vtec carpet tires have Timo be used

Works fantastic for me :-)

I have bought about going to a lighter weight oil up front.

I'll stick with my RSD springs for now as I have 2 full sets to go with both cars, but I will look up Yokomo spring rates to see what Inhave that is comparable.

I don't have an XA block, but I do have an E block. I'll see what that does if I feel a rear toe change is needed.

Edit: just looked at the toe chart, and with the XA / E block combo, you are still running 3degree toe in, but the rear is just a little wider. Maybe 1mm total. I have some axle spacers that may accomplish nearly the same effect.

I started with the Original tamiya springs, but was unhappy...
Someone gave me these Yokomo springs, and this was the a big improvement...
I do Not know the rsd springs, so i cant really compare..
Would be interesting what the differences are...

Yes, the rear is wider. I started with 2,5 degrees, but now with 3 , the only one who can beat the car is the poor driver

Good news and bad news from today's outing.

After getting my first run in with the 17.5, I messed up and plugged the battery in backwards. Poof goes the HobbyWing. No back up in the box so race day over for 17.5 and no set up work. 😤😤😤

USGT was an entirely different story. Since the 17.5 car was kaput, I was able to better focus my efforts on the one car. The car started out with a tight rear and very pushy front. After some RC testing and shock swapping I found a setup that allowed the front to carve pretty good and the rear just follow in-step. I didn't place with the car, but that was on me and a few trips to Walmart trying to cut the corners a little close. The rear is still just a smidge squirmy under power coming off a fast 90 deg turn. I think I might go a couple spots out on upper rear shock mount and a slightly softer spring next time out to start. But if your track has good traction, you might not have to change a thing. I'm going to put this set up on the 17.5 to start next time I get to the track.

Just noticed I forgot to put in what the rear mounts are. They are the same as before. XB / D

On a different note, the TA05 hubs worked great. Took a couple nasty hits on the front corners, one without the body on, and no breakage. Would recommend this swap out to anyone before the car even hits the track for the first time. Save a lot of headache.

So I recently purchased the Spec-r gear diff, it finally came in the mail and I was going over it comparing with the stock gear diff and noticed that the Spec-r is 1 tooth less ( which I dont mind) but the out-drives are pretty different. The out-drive's opening for the blades are SMALLER than the stock ones. Those of who have switched the gear diffs what did you do in this case for the blades/outdrives. Thanx in advance

Btw, the gear diff is soooo much smaller and looks to be sooo much light than the stock one, very happy with that portion for sure!

Tamiya 51293. 4 degrees. I just replaced my carbon reinf ones this week after breaking my 5th one. I shouldn't have waited this long.
