Car has been awsome recently.Anyone else running a oneway? I like the spool setup,but my driving style suits a oneway better.Just as fast if not a tick faster every lap. Its been super consistant for me although a spool would be easier to drive.I just dont know how the Florida stock racers can run a spool though.Any insight into this?I have been running 19turn mainly recently.

One thing I am not digging about the spool is the vibration at certain speeds when in the turn.This is inherent with spools on alot of cars,not just the Mi2.I just have found oneway to be better all around.In stock corner speed is a must and there is not as much much with a spool.Works great for me in 19turn and Mod.I cant get it to be efficient enough in stock though.

For those of us new to the sport, what is a spool and what is a one way? I know they are both diff's, or diff replacements, and my yokomo has a oneway in the front. But why is a spool or one way preffered over a ball diff for example?

A Spool is a completely solid diff. An Axle. There is no movement in it at all. This can allow you to brake very late into the turn, and has very good pull out of the corners.

The one-way allows each outdrive to turn "one way" independantly. So when you are off power the fronts wheels are not driven. Then it locks up out of corners.

Personally at the moment i (and i think most of the UK team) am running a One-way nearly everywhere, certainly on Tarmac outdoors. Personally i don't actually like the feel of the car with the spool, you don't seem to get enough steering entering the corner.

Of course, now that i know what a spool is its easy to understand why.

The wheels are fighting each other because the paths they travel are different, and this would possibly induce slight understeer.

The inside wheel has a smaller distance to travel compared to the outside wheel, so they fight against eachother when you turn into the corner. I cant see a benefit at all to a spool...

we have been running spools here in florida for about two years and because having to we just learned by force! (rules)
This weekend due to some of the guys that couldnt run with a spool we held a vote and allowed the oneway back in as a tuning option! will be intresting to see what will happen now! its going to be great to see who will or which will be faster!

Also I like to thank P.W and Troy with the help this weekend at the state race! I got two weeks to get it straight for the next race! Thanks a bunch guys!

No problem Hector. One more tip... change your belts BEFORE they break. Oh well, next time. BTW, the 2 degree caster blocks and longer front links really made the car turn in and had much better mid steering at Superior.

troy I try that here at coralsprings but my car felt good just felt lazy and i didnt want to change out drives.
paul took care of me and that was greatly apreciated but the heat was getting to me ,and the demon was ready. the Mi2 felt well planted and smooth , if I hadnt broke the out drives I would have kept running it.
I almost passed out sat after qualifing because of heat exhustion.
I drank about 2 gallons of water that evening along with asprin the heat really got to me!

AdrianM (or anyone else)...building the MI2, I notice on the setup sheet I need 1mm antisquat in the rear...I'm at the office and dont have the book infront of me so it may be explained in the back, but if not what do I do to get 1mm antisquat?

All you need to do if you want 1mm antisquat is to add a 1mm shim under the forward, rear suspension mounts. This raises the front of the rear suspension arm and gives you more turn-in and more forward traction. You do not have to run this, it is just another tuning option.

if so do you also run Tamiya springs?? what would be a good start point for tarmac

I know most who are running the trf shocks run the Associated springs.I am running blues and silvers.
