You have to consider...
Good servos(you need 2) are $100+ each
Decent .21 engine $150
Pipe $50+
Receiver battery $20+
Starter box, $80+
Glow ignitor $20
All of the above are included with the RTR.

and you can also look at the XP digital servos as they are very decent servos for the price...

You can also look into getting a Werks B5 engine as it's $200 new and the thread on here is full of info and alot of info form the owner of werks himself. You don't get that much these days...

Start looking local, for used stuff. You should have no problem finding a losi 1.0 roller for less than $200, A used .21 for $100ish and servos $50 a piece. You do not need the best stuff to get started. Have you ever been to pro4mance? I'm pretty sure there is a NIB losi 1.0 kit for $225.
Let me know if there is anything I can help you with. If you will be at the track Thursday, I'll have some engines for sale cheap.

Losi 2.0 for 575.00 plus shipping on amain. Your not touching that getting a roller.
200 for older car
200 for engine
50 for pipe
25 for reciever pack
130 for 2 servos
80 starter box
rtr losi 575
cs-170 servo 85
You could also sell that radio for 150 bucks it comes with. Maybe more.
I have a losi 2.0 race roller and with all the goodies it cost me around 2 grand. I drove a rtr 2.0 with a good steering servo somebody just bought at the track and it was easier to drive and a solid package. I felt like i got ripped off on my race roller kind off.
I like my RR cause it's really edgy but for a beginner it would be a expensive handful. The rtr just felt number and safer. Just had more confidence pushing it. The engine was solid too. You can race this thing and win if you got the hands.

thank you RB Five, if i get an RTR (which from the sounds of things i will) it will definately be the Losi 2.0 RTR... I appreciate everyone taking the time to answer these questions for me and hopefully I will benefit from this information come outdoor season!!!
