Do the front pivot blocks look photoshopped too? that would be the giveaway too I guess.

Like you say Tryhard, the front shocks look at a wierd angle for being inboard too, where the hell is the top of the front shocks attached too?! I cant see the suspension working well with that layout.

Maybe its a 1st April picture come early?

Edit, youre spot on

I think it will be an evolution of the current design rather than anything too radical. Whatever it is, it is on the shopping list. Thank god I will be in HK come December...

5x10 bearings.. aww, man.. I'll have to stock up on a whole new set of uprights and bearings.. will there be redesigned C-hubs as well?

I wonder if the new uprights will be foam-friendly? Here's hoping they've learned something from all the people (including Rheinard) using X-Ray and Cyclone parts to run foams in the front...

I suppose this is the reason for the 45mm shafts too, thicker bearings.. will we be going back to the regular drive axles? LWS won't be as light-weight, but it'll be more durable! I guess I'd rather stay in one piece around the track, although I honestly haven't run into durability problems with the 5x9's.. although brushless might change that..

Well, what I really interest, is if the new 5x10 bearing upright works for LWT/short-LWT. Or if the whole suspension is new, if it works for 415MSX/MSXX...

My thoughts also. If the 416 is going to use the same chassis layout (same bolt patterns etc) also, then I'll just buy the updated parts and install it in my 415MRE. It'll be less spending then buying a whole new kit again.

42106 TRF416 Chassis Kit

This is the major news in todays announcement. The TRF416 has been expected for some time but the relative silence lately and with the announcement of the TRF415MSXX Marc Rheinard Edition 2007 a few weeks ago, todays news of the TRF416 will have surprised many.

Details are few so far, however the kit will be shown at the Tokyo Hobby Show October 11-14th.

Some details have sneaked out from the TRF camp though.

The new chassis has been designed for the high-end touring car scene and to best make use of the currently dominating racing conditions with high output brushless motors and control rubber tyres. Focus has been on developing the chassis to use it's tyres in an optimum way.

The TRF416 is an all new chassis with few carryover parts from the TRF415. Compared to the TRF415 the bulkheads are now spaced the same front and back (the space between bulkheads was narrower at the front on the 415). This has most probably been achieved by mounting the rear bulkheads closer together. The rear bulkheads will also be mounted symmetrically to the chassis, probably missing the front screw that's used to secure the motor mount bulkhead on the TRF415.

The wheel bearing size has been increased to 5x10mm, a move that will please many TRF415 drivers. In addition the whole drivetrain has been improved using the latest low friction 37T and 18T pulleys. The 37T pulley also mean a move to a 12 ball diff that will significantly improve diff durability and performance.

Specs:

- 2.25mm chassis
- 2mm upper deck
- new motor mount
- new front and rear bulkhead
- new type 45mm driveshafts
- 5x10mm wheel bearings
- front oneway
- 37T diff pulley (12 balls) and oneway pulley
- 18T center pulley

The TRF416 will be released in December and has a list price in Japan of 74800yen (similar to TRF415MSX MRE 2006).

Thought I was done buying TRF kits since I've been racing nitro lately.

That car is definately not it. Look closely at the photo of the rear end...those are clearly the old TA-04/414 A-Arms, not the LW arms.

im thinking this might be it... see how the motor and layshaft are closer to the rear, and looks kind of like old school arms, but different... plus i think i can make out a "45" etched into the cvd bone, like mentioned in the car info....

i agree on the 5x10 bearing deal as well... the 950's are crap. i think that leads to new uprights, obviously.

i wondered that too... but, i think the reg arms only had 1 hole for the sway, and 2 for the shock? could have been flipped, tho. not sure, as im at work right now. besides, who is to say they arent using the incredibly tough old arms with new uprights?

I'm also leaning towards both of your observations with the posted suspected pics of the 416 due to most of the parts on the car are the updated parts that's been released on the 415MSXX and 05MS... but I could be wrong also.
