like when the 415 replaced the 414, the 415 was a "all new chassis"

with the inside information’s I posted, the 416 will also be "all new chassis".

.......so expect some new, different, never seen before.

My guess is:
"designed for the high-end touring car scene and to best make use of the currently dominating racing conditions with high output brushless motors and control rubber tires"
this means new steering and suspension arms.

Compared to the TRF415 the bulkheads are now spaced the same front and back
=New bulkheads, like on the TA-05MS

The wheel bearing size has been increased to 5x10mm
=new front and rear uprights

2,25 chassis plate
brand new chassis plate

37T diff pulley (12 balls) and oneway pulley
- 18T center pulley

New belts and pulley

so don’t look at the posted "ghost pictures" - but expect something new and different.
look at the TA-05MS and get inspired

Sorry, not true. They are just the standard LWT arms. Easy too spot, as they have the rib on the outer edge... and two holes in the arms for droop screws. The old 04 arms have only one hole.

The more I look at it, the more I doubt that that car is a 416 proto, and just a custom modded car.

And again, I don't think the layout of the 05MS will be used, theres certain things on it that are not quite there (batteries further off centre, heavy layshaft desing etc). I'll agree some of the details may be used, but not the layout for it.... as the press releases say, this is a new car...

Regards
Ed

My guess as closest to the 416 would be Tech's M-07.
It also fits the description....

But...a li'l while ago there was also some rumor about Kawada being in contact with Tamiya's TRF design team. (just rumors)
Anyone care to update on this one?

Another thing about that picture, it seems to have a front spool rather than a one-way. It was said that the 416 will come with front and center one-ways.

The Tech Racing design looks interesting; the rear bulkhead looks offset or narrow or something which allows the motor to be mounted further inboard.

Since everyone is speculating their asses off in this thread I may as well have a go...

"Brushless motor optimised" - wording suggests slightly rearward weight bias from TRF415 for maybe a little bit more stability with the super-horsepower. Also sturdier suspension and drivetrain parts as suggested by large bearing hubs and large pulleys.

"Control tyre optimised" - since control tyres are not the optimum grip solution, I expect the chassis to have a little more flex than the latest 415's, so smaller bulkheads with fewer mounting positions and a new style of lower deck.

So it will be a virtually all-new car that will look a lot like a 415 but with rearward weight distribution, greater flex and sturdier components.

Guess I was wrong about the TA05MS - seems it really was a parts bin special, not the future of Tamiya touring.

I wouldn't be too hasty in saying that those pics posted by TFR on page 2 are fake

I just had a close look at them and I'd be surprised if someone custom made that car - the bulkhead machining and anodising looks far too good to be a backyard job.

Also, with the steering not bolting to the top deck, this would allow the car to flex more in order to work better on hand-out tyres as mentioned by others.

The split centre bulkhead and motor mount look totally new - not like someone just chopped up a 415 version. This is very apparent if you look very closely at the way the bulkhead bolts to the chassis, plus the motor mount itself is a more solid, less ventilated version.

Finally, the pics posted by TFR come from a website that just happens to have proper pictures of Tamiya's new budget 501X car, the "Durga", as well as pics of the 415MSXX MRE car to be released soon - noticeable by the split upper alloy mid bulkhead, which is different to the hand cut ones seen on some 415's lately. This seems too much of a coincidence for this one site to have pics of all three cars without them being the real thing.

Whilst I don't think this is a 416... I certainly could see it as being a prototype of ideas being tested

On another point, the MSXX MRE doesn't appear to have the 16t ball diff... but old pulleys too (all the teeth are there). Interesting

....and i would expect so see more radical changes from tamiya
