I have a 108 in mine that looks like the max.

I have one problem that I am sure came up before.
The 27T pinion gear on the motor simply can not reach the spur of 100T.

I am going to run this car on an outdoor asphalt track where they race 1/10, 1/8 and 1/5 scale cars (Both Nitro and Electric)

I am running the LRP Sphere Competition TC ESC and a 3.5Turn brushless motor powered by Team Orion 4800 Platinum 2S LIPO.
I need to get to a final drive ratio of 8.9 for large track for the 3.5Turn motor

I am not sure what the maximum Spur you can have on the Cyclone.
Cyclone IDR = 2.4375 [(Spur/Pinion)* IDR = FDR]
I think a 106T spur and 30T pinion would get me that ratio but I m not sure if they will still reach or even worse fall below the chassis line

Anyone can make any recomendations from experiance?
Thanks very much

Some have run a 110T spur with no problems. The 108T will give you a little more clearance.

Anybody know where I could get a set of HOT61088 WC Ed. MIP CVDs? I can't find them IN STOCK anywhere in the US.

Thanks

Do I need the carbon-fibre piece that goes on the other side of the spur gear, or can i just screw the spur gear straight to the hub?

I believe my LHS had some in stock, both the kits and single CVD bones. Speedworld Raceway in California (916) 783-8864 ask for Billy. They will be closed tomorrow but will be open Thursday, 12-7 I believe are there hours.

108/28 works. I ran it yesterday.

I see you can buy a special motor mount for brushless motors. Do you need to use one these when using a brushless motor (eg Novak 13.5SS), or can you just use the original motor mounts?

That brushless mount is for the big brushless motors like the 3.5 and 4.5s which need a really really small rollout, the brushless mount puts the centre shaft higher giving people more clearance to run a larger spur.

In the case of the 13.5 youll probably find you are using really large rollouts so you wont even come close to needing the mount.

With the 110T spur it pokes out ever so slightly under the bottom of the chassis. Ive run an 82T 48pitch spur gear in my car which is the same and i didnt have any problems although i had to swap to the carbon fibre middle mount as the spur was rubbing on the aluminium middle motor mount (The maximum spur gear for 48 pitch is meant to be 81T)

You can still use the normal mounts. Really... the only motors you would need to use the Brushless Motor Mount with would be the 3.5 Motors. Maybe, just maybe you may want to use it with the LRP 4.0 but i've yet to test those yet so can't 100% confirm this.
